Sporting Highlights
π2023/2024 π
What an incredible year it has been for sports at Hampton Junior School! As we look back on the past months, we are filled with pride at the remarkable achievements, and unforgettable moments, our students have experienced in the world of sports.
During the Autumn Term, HJS were lucky to have a climbing wall come to school. The children challenged themselves and thrived. They were able to push themselves out of their comfort zone and tackle new heights. It was amazing to see everyone get involved, even our staff!
Also that term, HJS were fortunate enough to have a visit from Karma Kids. They provided an energy-fuelled crossfit session. The children enjoyed this workshop aimed to encourage and inspire young athletes.
Over the academic year, our inter-house competitions in PE have been a tremendous success! Pupils eagerly participated in a variety of sports including dodgeball, basketball and football, displaying their talent, teamwork, and house spirit. This would not be possible without the help of our House Captains who have helped with organising the events and encouraging their team.
We are incredibly proud of the children that represented HJS f in cross country. Competing against various schools in the borough, our runners demonstrated remarkable endurance, resilience, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to our cross-country stars for making us proud!
Twelve talented swimmers went to the Borough Swimming Gala. It was a huge success for HJS with the Year 6 girls becoming Large School Borough Champions in all their events. Other children had their own successes including winning ribbons for their events. Overall, it was a fantastic opportunity for our swimmers and a superb result for all. Well done to those that represented us!
Three of these talented swimmers were invited to the London School Swimming Association gala at Latimer School in Hammersmith as event winners This is the first time we had been invited to this event, competing against children from all over London who had performed well in their Borough Galas. River Silbery, Brooke Tiller and Daisy Forder performed exceptionally well in their events. Congratulations girls, well deserved! Thank you to Mrs Fraser who has dedicated time and commitment to supporting the swimming team.
Our tag rugby team has had a fantastic season, displaying their talent and teamwork on the field. They won several of their games coming second overall in their pool and advancing to the last 16 in their league! The team also represented HJS in a tournament. Their efforts got them through to play for the Cup. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the team. Their perseverance and sportsmanship have made us incredibly proud, and we look forward to seeing their continued success in the future. Well to our tag rugby team!
In addition, we are overjoyed to celebrate the incredible achievements of our netball team this season! Demonstrating outstanding skill and determination, our team won several of their games and, for the first time in our school's history, made it to the Borough finals. This remarkable accomplishment reflects the hard work and dedication of the players. Their commitment to excellence and teamwork has inspired us all, and we could not be prouder of them. Thank you Mrs Beaumont for your continued support, we could not have done it without you. Once again, congratulations to our netball stars, all their early mornings were worth it!
Furthermore, we are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding performance of our girls' football team this season! Through sheer determination and teamwork, our talented players advanced to the last 16 in their league. This impressive achievement highlights their hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport. A special thank you to Paul from Onside for guiding and supporting the team every step of the way. We are incredibly proud of our girls' football team and look forward to even more successes in the future. Well done, team!
Additionally, we are ecstatic to announce the phenomenal achievements of our boys' football team this year! With unparalleled determination and skill, the team won all of their games, making an undefeated season! For the first time in nine years, they advanced to the finals, displaying their hard work and dedication. Thanks again to Paul and the players for their relentless effort and teamwork. This milestone has made us all immensely proud. As a result of all this hard work the boys were victorious and were crowned borough champions. Congratulations, boys!
Our students shone brightly at the recent athletic event, competing with enthusiasm and determination across various track and field events. Their focus and fitness were evident. We are incredibly proud of all our young athletes for their outstanding performances and the sportsmanship they displayed. Congratulations to everyone who participated and celebrated these fantastic achievements!
Our final sporting event of the academic year was sports day which was a huge success. Well done to all the children that participated in a variety of track and field events in our annual sports day. It was a great day with a competitive but supportive atmosphere. Well done to all houses!
We are delighted to announce that we, Hampton Junior School, have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year. This is the first year that we have been awarded Platinum. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
As we conclude this exciting year for sports, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this year a resounding success. To our dedicated coaches, whose guidance and encouragement have been invaluable, and to the parents and families, whose unwavering support and enthusiasm have energised our young athletesβthank you. We look forward to another year of fun, growth, and triumphs in and outside of school.
