Autism Acceptance Week 4/8 - 4/12
We are celebrating Autism Acceptance Week at Tawanka 4/5-4/12!
We started off with Ben Hartranft, an Autism Advocate, speaking on his experiences and sharing his message of inclusion and kindness with all Tawanka students.
On Mismatched Monday, wear mismatched clothes!
On Tuesday, we are celebrating Neurodiversity Day so wear your best tie-dye!
No school Wednesday
On Thursday, we are being sensory friendly and having a pajama day!
On Friday, wear green or your Autism Acceptance shirt!
Clothing donations for nurses’ office
If you have any gently used clothing, especially pants or shorts, we could use them for accidents and spills. If you have clothing in your child’s classroom or here at the nurses, you may want to switch from pants to shorts in a few weeks.
We appreciate your kindness and generosity!

March Madness Tournament of Books
This March, Tawanka held a book tournament where students voted on their favorite stories each day in a bracket-style matchup. We started with 16 books and have finally made it all the way down to 1! Tawanka's favorite book of 2024 is....."Creepy Crayon" by Aaron Reynolds. Click here to view our very own Mrs. Kane reading the story aloud or check out the story at your local library!

Title 1
As a Title I School, Tawanka receives federal funding for Title I programs. Our Title I handbook provides an overview of the Neshaminy School District Title I program and policies. It includes the Parent Right to Know Letter, the Neshaminy School District Parent and Family Engagement Policy, Tawanka's Parent and Family Engagement Policy, and Tawanka's Home-School Compact. Each of these documents can be accessed by clicking on the links below:
The Home-School Compact reviews the roles and responsibilities of each member of Team Tawanka, including the students, parents, and teachers. Please take the time to review the Compact with your child, as they are an important part of the team!
The Parent and Family Engagement Policy looks at various components of Tawanka's Parent and Family Engagement Program and addresses how Tawanka plans to include parents of all Tawanka students in their programming and events.
The Title I Program Handbook is a district level document that provides an overview of the Title I program. It also includes information about parent and family engagement at both the district and the building level.
Tawanka is proud to be a Title I school and looks forward to partnering with your family throughout the year to support the success of all our Tawanka Eagles! Please reach out to Andrea Gansor (agansor@neshaminy.org) or Beth Smith (bsmith@neshaminy.org) if you have any questions about our Title I school.
