Monthly Mustang Newsletter
December 1, 2024-December 31, 2024
From the Principals Desk:
Though there are only 15 school days left before our wonderful winter break, there is still so much to accomplish. It’s important that students are here each and every day. We have an attendance initiative going on right now to encourage students to be present, especially with state testing taking place the first week of December. As we continue to focus on academic growth during this season, we are also looking forward to the various holiday-related activities along the way. Please keep up to date on everything by joining our social media and Remind platforms. We are also still looking for items for our faculty/staff appreciation activities throughout the month. Please see below for more information.
We continue to see the positive impact that our school climate and culture make each and every day. We truly hope this month is filled with learning and lasting memories. Our wish is that the same can be said for your family at home. Please take time to create memories and spend quality time together. If I have learned anything, it is that time is precious and each moment matters. However you choose to celebrate this holiday season, I hope it is filled with joy!

Classroom Highlights
This past week, in Ms. Bergman's and Ms. Reyes's classes students collaborated while analyzing relationships and their impact in the story. It was great to see the use of graphic organizers and students talking about their thinking in a structured collaborative setting! Also, it's amazing to see the 7th grade Reading PLT working so closely together! Great job!
Mr. Prow's STEM Fishing Group
Students have been hard at work catching lots of bass. Even one of our awesome Deans joined in on the fun and caught a bass right away!

Message From Our Media Center...
Beanstack Reading Incentives,
Did you know that Mustangs can log their daily reading to win prizes and help SCMS be the top middle school in Beanstack? Beanstack is a district-wide reading incentive program where students can log their reading minutes each day to win individual and grade level prizes! There are monthly challenges and a leaderboard that is updated weekly to see which school is reading the most and we want SCMS to be on the top of the leaderboard! In November, student logged over 78,000 reading minutes and over 230,000 minutes since August bring us over halfway to our 400,000 minute goal for the year! 69% of students have logged minutes in Beanstack so far this year, so let's see if we can get to 100%.
The current December challenge has begun, and students can start logging minutes to complete this challenge by finding Beanstack in their Classlink. Once in Beanstack, they can log reading by using the Log Reading button in the top left corner. Mustangs can log minutes after reading or start a timer before reading to see how many minutes they can read in one sitting. We know our Mustangs are reading every day and they deserve to be rewarded for it! Thank you for supporting your Mustangs by logging reading in Beanstack daily. Let's see if SCMS can be the top Beanstack school for December.
Best,
Ashley Ford
