Thank you to all who attended our first Munch-n-Read of the year! It's such a fun event and wonderful to see so many Unit A families during this time. Prior to each Munch-n-Read you will receive a link to a Google Form where you can indicate if you're coming, and if you have a Unit C or B student you'll indicate whether you want them to come down to join you in Unit A or not. This will help us stay organized and ensure all of our students are accounted for and safe.

While I know parking is extremely limited... Please, if possible, do not park your car along Sexton or Mary Street for parent pick up as it makes the turn very tight for buses that have to take a left on Mary off of Sexton. We appreciate your help with this.

There's ONE MORE DAY to send in canned goods for the Mizzou Homecoming food drive! They aren't collecting our bins until the end of the day Monday. It will be exciting to see what school wins this year!

Unit A has been working hard this week on having a growth mindset, noticing feelings in others, and continuing rules and procedures. In content areas we have been working on:

Literacy

Reading- we have been practicing stations, buddy reading, how to be a learner, and turning and talking to share ideas.

Writing- brainstorming ideas for narrative writing, choosing a topic we know about and beginning the writing process.

Math

We continued math station practice to do assessments and establish strong routines.

Next week we will begin core content in Math and phonics.

• This year we will not be sending math homework. At the end of each math unit we will send home a practice packet. This is for optional review at home and does not need to be returned to school.
• In Second Steps we are continuing to learn how to identify emotions within ourselves and others.
• In our math rooms we have been learning about math tools and how to use them efficiently. We have also been establishing and practicing everyday math routines.
