February 2025
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy February! It’s hard to believe we’re already well into 2024. This month, we are excited to celebrate the joy of reading with our Love of Reading Week, Book Fair, Spirit Week and Family Read-In day (see calendar below for dates and times).
Our Book Fair will be offering a wonderful selection of books for all ages. It’s a great opportunity to build your home library and support our school at the same time. Every purchase helps us bring new resources and books into our classrooms.
As we celebrate reading, we encourage you to take time at home to read with your child. Whether it’s a bedtime story, a shared chapter book, or even a comic, these moments can help nurture a lifelong love of reading.
Warmest regards,
Emily Suess
Principal, Marshall Elementary
Attendance Matters
Why Timeliness Matters
School Starts at 7:45 am. Please Be On Time.
- Missed Learning Opportunities: The first few minutes of the school day often include critical activities like morning meetings, instructions, or review sessions.
- Routine and Focus: Arriving late can make it challenging for students to transition smoothly into the learning environment, affecting their focus and confidence.
- Community Impact: Frequent tardiness can interrupt classroom activities, impacting not only the late student but also their peers and teachers.
How We Can Work Together
We understand that occasional tardiness can happen due to unforeseen circumstances, and we want to partner with you to ensure timely arrivals moving forward. Here are a few tips that might help:
- Prepare the Night Before: Set out clothes, pack lunches, and organize school materials to reduce the morning rush.
- Set Alarms Earlier: Allow extra time in the morning for unexpected delays.
- Review Your Morning Routine: Identify any areas where adjustments can be made for smoother mornings.
If you are facing challenges that make it difficult to get your child to school on time, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to support you and work together to find solutions.
We appreciate your attention to this matter and your continued commitment to your child’s education. Let’s work together to make every day a great day of learning for all of our students.

Counselor's Corner
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back! I hope you had a restful winter break and Happy New Year. We are excited to see all of your students back at school very soon!
Transitioning from the holiday schedule to school routines can be challenging, so here are some tips to help your child adjust smoothly:
1. Re-Establish Routines
Start Early: Gradually adjust bedtimes, wake-up times, and meal schedules a few days before school starts.
Prepare Together: Help your child organize school supplies and pack their backpack for the first day back.
2. Reflect and Set Goals
Encourage Reflection: Discuss favorite moments from last quarter and what they’re excited about this quarter.
Set Goals: Work with them to set a couple of realistic goals, like improving study habits or working on following classroom expectations.
3. Manage Emotions
Validate Feelings: Acknowledge any anxiety about returning to school and offer reassurance.
Support Systems: Remind them that teachers, friends, and I are here to help.
4. Prioritize Sleep and Nutrition
Restful Sleep: Limit screens before bedtime to ensure they’re well-rested.
Healthy Meals: A balanced breakfast with fruits, whole grains, and proteins can boost focus and energy.
5. Stay Connected
Check-In: Ask open-ended questions like, “What was the best part of your day?” to gauge how they’re adjusting.
Communicate with Teachers: Reach out if your child faces any challenges.
Thank you for your partnership in supporting your child’s growth and well-being. We look forward to helping each student flourish in their unique way!
Warm regards,
Kylie Wright
