Thank You for Coming to our Open House!
Roosevelt Middle School hosted an Open House last month to welcome families back into our school and provide opportunities to meet with teachers and staff. Another exciting and enriching year is in store for students here in RMS, and we enjoyed the opportunity to meet with families and share our hopes for the school year!
Student Assembly & Cell Phone Policy
We hosted some Student Assemblies at the start of our school year with all of our students, to review what's expected of them while they're at Roosevelt. One of the items we reviewed with all students was Roosevelt's Cell Phone Policy.
During school hours, cell phones should be powered off and out of sight. This includes while students are in classrooms, hallways and the cafeteria.
First Offense - The teacher contacts the main office for pickup of the phone. The student will get the phone back at the end of the day (main office). The offense will be logged.
Second Offense - Teacher contacts the main office for pickup of the phone. The student will get the phone back at the end of the day (main office). The offense will be logged and an email will be sent home to the parent/guardian.
Third Offense - The teacher contacts the main office for pickup of the phone. A guardian will be called to pick up the phone.
Students were also reminded that video recording is not permitted on school grounds.
The policy is working great so far!
The response to our new cell phone policy has been wonderful! We've received a lot of positive feedback from students, families and staff. And students overall have been doing a great job following the new rules, helping make for a positive learning environment here at Roosevelt. Thank you to everyone!
Roosevelt's International Baccalaureate (IB) Journey Continues
We are excited to share that Roosevelt Middle School will be submitting our IB MYP Authorization application by October 8th, marking a significant step in our journey to becoming an IB MYP school!
For our new families: This journey began as part of our commitment to providing a rigorous and globally minded education for all students. Over the past few years, we’ve integrated the IB Middle Years Programme framework, which emphasizes critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and academic rigor.
Once our application is submitted, we expect feedback on areas to refine, followed by a site visit in late winter or early spring. If all goes well, we aim to be fully authorized before the end of the year!
For more information about the IB MYP, visit the official IB MYP website.
