From the Principal's Desk—
Hello Hilltopper Families!
We're more than halfway through the third quarter and it's inspiring to witness the remarkable progress and enthusiasm for learning our students at Park are demonstrating. It is so exciting to visit classrooms and watch students mastering new math concepts, becoming creative writers and engaging in reading adventures.
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, we encourage families to continue supporting their children's educational journey. Regular attendance, consistent homework and daily/evening routines as well as open communication with teachers play pivotal roles in student success. Together, let's maintain this positive momentum and ensure our students finish the year strong.
Just a reminder that next week, from February 10th to 13th, we will be celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week. This special week is dedicated to encouraging everyone to perform simple acts of kindness, fostering a culture of compassion and generosity. Whether it's sharing a compliment, helping a classmate or expressing gratitude, every small gesture can make a significant impact.
Since we have used 5 calamity days, look for blizzard bag information in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your support and partnership in fostering a kind learning environment at Park Elementary.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Makee

Park Clinic Corner
PSA: Girl's pants needed (leggings, jeans) in all sizes!
IMPORTANT REMINDER FROM THE CLINIC:
- Please see the link ( ODH FLU Rate Info ) to the most recent update by ODH regarding influenza rates in Ohio. Ohio is in the "Very High " category.
- We are seeing MANY kids in the clinic with high fevers and active flu symptoms. Many are returning to school after 2-3 days of fevers at home but they are spiking fevers at school.
- We recommend that if you have or have had a fever, that you don't return to school until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications (like Tylenol, Advil, Ibuprofen, Dayquil, etc). This is in accordance with the CDC.
Here are the CDC recommendations for returning to school: CDC Information
This excerpt comes from the CDC website:
"Return to School"
When a person can return to school depends on the nature of the illness. In general, a child returning to school should be well enough to participate in school (e.g., can adequately manage improving cough and congestion on their own, not overly fatigued), and care of the returning child should not interfere with the school staff’s ability to teach or care for other students. Students and staff returning to school following an illness may still be contagious, but are likely to be less contagious as symptoms improve, depending on factors like duration and severity of illness. Parents and caregivers should consult their child’s health care providers with specific questions about their child’s condition or recovery.
For the general symptoms described in the stay at home when sick section of this guidance, policies can allow return to the school setting when:
- The child has not had a fever (and is not using fever-reducing medicine) for at least 24 hours.
- Fever with a new rash has been evaluated by a healthcare provider and fever has resolved.
- Uncovered skin sores are crusting, and the child is under treatment from a provider.
- Vomiting has resolved overnight and the child can hold down food / liquids in the morning.
- Diarrhea has improved, the child is no longer having accidents or is having bowel movements no more than 2 above normal per 24-hour period for the child. Bloody diarrhea should be evaluated by a healthcare provider prior to return.
- Respiratory virus symptoms are getting better overall for at least 24 hours. Students and staff returning after a respiratory illness can consider additional actions to reduce spread.
Thank you for your continued help in keeping our schools healthy.
