A Note from Our Principals
Hello Waubesa Families,
It was such a pleasure seeing so many of you last week at the Welcome Back school event. The excitement and joy of a new school year were alive and well. A special Shout Out the EC-8 PTO for their support with the stock the lounge items for staff and students. Additionally, thank you to the PTO for their ongoing support that helped pay for the ice cream for the Welcome Back event.
As we transition into the new school year routines, we wanted to provide you with some helpful reminders and resources.
If your student is coming home extremely tired, that’s very normal as they build up the stamina for their busy school days. It’s important they have plenty of sleep at night, which often means shifting bedtime earlier than the summer schedule. For reference, students ages 6-12 need somewhere between 9-12 hours of sleep per night.
If your student is having breakfast, they may arrive at 7:25 am and enter Door A (front entrance). All other students may be dropped off after 7:25 and will report to the playground. Playground supervision will be provided from 7:25 until 7:50. Our dismissal bell rings at 2:55.
The first bell rings at the start of the day at 7:47, signaling students into the building. When the second bell rings at 7:55, all students should be in their classrooms.
Pickup and Drop-off map: please use extra caution and drive slowly through our parent pickup/drop-off area and around school. Thank you!
Homework/Independent Practice: you can find each grade level's expectations using this link.
iPad Agreement: please take a moment to read and review the iPad Agreement with your student(s). School and Home reinforcement of these agreements are impactful. Students also review this with their homeroom teachers.
Each year Waubesa has a theme or focus that the entire school community supports. This year, our theme is “Soaring Higher Together!” This theme will be echoed throughout the year as we continue to teach and reinforce our Waubesa pillars of POWER as the guiding word for who we are and how we conduct ourselves. For our third grade families, POWER is the version of the Spartan Stars Program at CEPS. POWER stands for:
- Pride - I do my best work
- Ownership - I am responsible for my choices
- We work together - I work well with others
- Empathy - I try to understand others’ feelings
- Responsibility - I do the right thing to help our school be a better place
If you have any questions or suggestions throughout the school year, we encourage you to use this form. We appreciate hearing directly from families when they have questions or concerns; thank you.
Soaring Higher Together!

Absence Reporting
Attendance/Absences: As long as your child is feeling well, getting them to school every day and on time is one of the best things you can do to support their progress. Families are asked to follow our absence protocols before 8:15 a.m. If you fail to report an absence by 8:30 a.m., school personnel will contact you either at home or at work to confirm your student’s absence or tardiness.

Students will receive an ID (seperate from their school ID) that indicates that they have purchased the athletic pass. Please note that they will need to show this pass at all home events to receive free entry.
Waubesa Traffic Pattern 2024-2025
If you're wanting to pick up your child and remain parked on the street, please park further down Red Oak or Cherry Lane and have your student use the crosswalk. We appreciate your cooperation and support as we keep students safe.

Progressive Behavior Response Plan
This plan is a tool designed to offer consistency across the district so that responses to student behavior reflect best practices and are provided equitably from school to school when student behavior requires a corrective, restorative, and/or instructional response or consequence. Through this plan we will maintain a safe and positive learning environment that fosters student belonging, positive and trusting relationships, and student growth. The goal of the plan is to provide staff, students and adults a clear framework that includes our beliefs, expectations, and commitments for responding to student behavior. The full plan can now be found on our website.
