Bailey Bits
September 2 - 6, 2024
Thank you to all of the students and families that joined us on Wednesday for Open House! We hope you enjoyed meeting with the teachers and staff!
Don't forget that we don't have school on Monday, September 2nd, in observance of Labor Day. All students should have their Chromebooks in their backpacks!
Looking to be a part of the school? Our PTO is always seeking volunteers. They are looking for volunteers to help in the school, at home, and out in the community. Get connected with a wonderful group that really helps support our students and staff. The first meeting for the 2024-2025 school year is on Monday, September 9th at 3:45pm in the Library. Kids are welcome to attend! We are looking to fill the Vice President and Secretary positions.
See you soon!

📵 NEW PERSONAL DEVICE POLICY 📵
ELECTRONIC DEVICES (PER SENATE BILL 185)
If you haven’t heard yet, personal device use is now dictated by the state of Indiana. This means that students are not allowed to use cell phones, tablets, or smartwatches in school. Please do not send these items to school with your child unless necessary. All devices must remain powered off and in backpacks for the entirety of the school day. If you have any questions about this policy please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.
Failure to follow the new procedures regarding electronic devices will result in appropriate disciplinary action by school administration, which can include, but is not limited to the confiscation of the device(s) in its entirety and which will have to be retrieved by a parent/guardian. If a violation of this rule occurs, and a student refuses to give his/her electronic device to an adult, then the student is suspended from school for insubordination. Administrative discretion will be used to assign discipline which may include one of the following consequences:
1st infraction: Item confiscated until the end of the school day and a detention assigned.
2nd infraction: Item confiscated, detention assigned, parent/guardian must retrieve the device.
3rd infraction: Item confiscated, 2 detentions assigned, parent/guardian must retrieve the device.
4th infraction: Item confiscated, 1 out of school suspension assigned, parent/guardian must retrieve device.

DISMISSAL CHANGES
STUDENT TARDIES AND ABSENCES
If your child will be absent for any reason, please call the office at (219) 962-1302 to report their absence. This includes Tuesday and Thursday eLearning Days.
Students are considered tardy after 8:40a.m. Each tardy results in missed educational opportunities for a child and results in a substantial disruption to the classroom environment when the student enters.
WATER & SNACKS
SNACKS: Please check with your child's teacher if they are allowed to bring snacks into their classrooms. If permitted, students should only bring an individual serving for themselves. They are not allowed to share with others.
