Teacher Appreciation Week 2024

This week, ALCMS will take the time celebrate our teachers and staff for their hardwork and dedication to the success of our students, our school and each other. If you wish to send a note of thanks of drop off a token of appreciation, we are certain they will appreciate it.

Turn in Missing Assignments to Improve Your Grade!
Has Your Scholar Completed & Submitted ALL Missing Assignments?
Please check with your scholar and check PowerSchool to see if your child has any missing assignments and to check to see if they are in danger of being retained this school year. At this time, our teachers are still accepting missing assignments in order to help scholars improve their grades. Please encourage your scholar to turn them in as soon as possible in order to receive credit. If you are still uncertain, it is best to contact and speak with your child's content area teacher.
You may also contact Mrs. Kenner-Milhouse, our school counselor or Mr. Thompson, Asst. Principal or Mrs. Kennedy, Principal.

End of Year State Testing
SC Ready and SC PASS
Our Corbett Scholars will participate in SC Ready testing later this month. We will administer the ELA Reading and Writing tests on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 and Thursday, May 16, 2024. We will administer the Math test on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Our 6th grade scholars will take the Science test and scholars in Algebra 1 will take their end of course assessment on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Please continue to encourage your scholars to do their best on these tests so they can show off the hard work they've put in this year. We are excited to grow on our state report card from average to excellent.
A hot breakfast will be provided each morning or testing. Scholars should arrive by 7:30AM in order to have breakfast.
Please make every effort to ensure scholars make it to school on time for testing days and are able to remain at school for the duration of the test.

Laptop & Charger Collection Dates
Student laptops, cases and chargers will be collected as indicated below. Any scholar with missing or damaged items will receive a bill from our technology department.

REMINDER: Students may only bring water in clear plastic bottles. Stainless steel bottles are bottles are no longer permitted.
Water Bottles & Water Filling Stations
- Students are only permitted to have/ carry water in their water bottles to drink throughout their class periods.
- No other beverages are allowed. (This includes juice, soda, energy drinks, coffee, sports drinks, etc.).
- Students may not drink their water as they are transitioning throughout the day.
- Water must be carried in a clear plastic water bottle.
- Students will not be allowed to bring stainless steel water bottles.
ACPSD DRESS CODE for Middle School Students
FOR STUDENTS WISHING TO WEAR LEGGINGS
- Leggings/tights/thermal tights may only be worn under dresses, shirts, shorts, or skirts. (Dresses, shirts, shorts and skirts must be of the appropriate length. The appropriate length is no more than 5 inches above the knee.) Leggings or tights may also be worn under jeans that have holes to cover skin. Pants, shorts and skirts must be worn at the waist.
- For students who wish to wear a t-shirt with leggings/tights/thermal tights - the t-shirt MUST BE no more than 5 inches above the knee.
INAPPROPRIATE ATTIRE FOR ALL STUDENTS
- Bare Midriff/Back shirts/tops
- Tube tops and halter tops
- Bedroom shoes/house slippers, lounge wear, pajamas/sleepwear, and blankets
PLEASE NOTE: The administration will make the final judgement on the appropriateness of clothing and/or appearance and reserves the right to prohibit students from wearing any articles of clothing or other items which lead to or result in the disruption of or interference with the school environment and student safety. In the event the administration determines a student's dress is inappropriate for school in accordance with the Middle School Dress Code Policy, the administration will either require the student to change or will inform the student not to wear the garment to school again. Repeated violation of the Dress Code will be addressed as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
Please read pages 13&14 of the ACPSD Middle School Code of Conduct for additional information regarding appropriate and inappropriate attire.
Student Arrival
All walkers, car riders and bus riders are able to enter the building beginning at 7:15 a.m. each morning.
Car Riders- As a safety precaution, car riders may not be dropped off or wait outside of their car prior to 7:15 a.m.
Walkers - As a safety precaution, walkers should not arrive before 7:15 a.m. They will not be permitted to enter the building or wait outside of the building.
Please assist us in helping to keep our scholars safe.
Please Note: Students will be marked TARDY who arrive after 7:44 a.m.
Elementary/Middle School Student Attendance at School-Sponsored Events
Please continue to be reminded, per ACPSD Board of Education, all students attending a school-sponsored event who are eighth grade and below must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older and must remain with a supervising adult throughout the entirety of their time at an event. High school student attendees must present a school or government ID or be prepare to show their PowerSchool information on their phone for entry without a supervising adult.
ALCMS Safety Checks
Recent Update from our ACPSD Board of Education: Middle & High School Students are asked to refrain from bringing in stainless steel water bottles, metal utensils from home , and scissors as they result in a positive detection and necessitate a search. As secondary students return from Fall Break in mid-October for second quarter, the restriction of these items will be mandatory.
Breakfast & Lunch Information
All lunch will be served in the cafeteria.
As a CEP school, all ALCMS students are able to eat breakfast and lunch at no cost. There is no requirement to complete a lunch application.
Volunteers & Mentors Needed
Student Agenda Books & Homework
In addition, these agenda books will also include student hall passes for each quarter. Please encourage your student to keep up with their agenda books. If a student loses, misplaces, or no longer has their agenda, they may purchase another one at the cost of $5. Students will not be permitted to share agenda books.
Dismissal Procedures
Bus Riders and walkers will be escorted to the bus lot by their seventh period teacher.
Car Riders will be dismissed to the front of the school. Please arrive at 2:50 p.m. Only ALCMS Scholars may be picked up from the ALCMS car line.
In order to minimize class disruptions during student instruction, any parent or guardian wishing to sign their student out early must do so by 2:00 p.m. on regular days (or 11:00 a.m. on early release days). After this time, students will be dismissed at 2:55 p.m. (or 11:40 a.m. on early release days).
Please Note: Only a Parent, Guardian or Alternate Adult as indicated on the student's registration information may sign the student out.
