Toros Triumph as Scholars, Leaders and Champions!
Toro Community,
We had a terrific first week back to campus. It's always astonishing to see how much our middle school students grow over these three weeks.
On Friday we were able to celebrate our December Student of the Months...it's a wonderful way to recognize students for their Toro-rific attitude and scholarly habits.
There is no school tomorrow, Monday, January 20 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. We will welcome our Toros back to campus on Tuesday, January 21!
It's Open Enrollment season-if you or anyone you know is interested in joining our Toro Family, please have them call the office to set up a tour of our school, I'd love to have the opportunity to share about all of the great work and achievements of Yorba Middle School. The office number is: 714-997-6161.
With Toro Tenacity,
Dr. Mónica Luther
Principal
Yorba Middle School
Monday, Jan. 20 Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
Martin Luther King Jr. stands as a beacon of hope, courage, and relentless pursuit of justice. As a scholar and civil rights leader, Dr. King’s unwavering dedication to equality and nonviolence transformed the landscape of American society. His teachings remind us of the power of unity, the strength of perseverance, and the necessity of compassion in the face of adversity. Through his profound words and actions, he challenged us to rise above hatred and build a future rooted in love, fairness, and understanding. Tomorrow, we honor his legacy by committing ourselves to the principles he lived by—seeking justice, embracing diversity, and creating a world where dignity and opportunity are afforded to all. Dr. King’s dream lives on, inspiring us to lead with courage and compassion in our own communities.
Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Hannah Willis, 7th grade English and Drama
What colleagues had to say about her:
"Hannah always looks for ways to engage students. She creates lessons that encourage students to think critically as well as push them to be successful. She has a great relationship with her students and truly cares about their success in and out of the classroom. Hannah is amazing. She is always looking for ways to bring rigourous, engaging lessons to our students everyday and she does it with such finesse. She works tirelessly before, during and after the workday to make this magic happen. In addition, she is a rockstar Drama teacher!! Hannah is a wonderful teacher who provides a safe learning environment for her students while holding them to high expectations. She tackles new tasks and continually grows as a teacher and leader. More people should see Hannah teach!
Classified Employee of the Year, Mrs. Ceci Banuelos, Instructional Assistant
Ceci is the longest serving educator at Yorba Middle School. You can always find her supporting Ms. Rena's students, helping them grow and learn. She is constantly helping out around the campus, attending events and making herself truly invaluable!
