Texas 2x2s Book List!
Every year the Texas 2x2 committee puts out a list of books that can be used by parents and caregivers to introduce children to a variety of quality books that will pique their interest and imagination, as well as encourage independent reading!
What do they look for? They read hundreds of books throughout the year and are looking for excellent books that will excite readers, books that are visually appealing and appropriate for both the content and the intended age-level!
The Texas 2x2 list is geared towards Pre-K through 2nd Grade students! If you'd like to read all 20 books with your student this year swing by the library to pick up a coloring sheet to track the books y'all read together! Ms. Johnson can help you get started and check out your first 2x2 book for the year if you're interested!
If your student reads all 20 2x2 books this year they'll be invited to our Two's Party on a Tuesday in April!
Texas Bluebonnet Books
The Texas Bluebonnet Award is one of the most prestigious children's choice literary awards in the United States. Each year, 20 books are chosen for the Texas Bluebonnet Award Lists. Schools all over the state of Texas participate in the program, encouraging students to read a minimum of five books from the list. In January, students vote for their favorite book!
Information about Texas Bluebonnet Books has been shared with all students in grades 3rd through 5th! It's optional and up to them to decide if they'd like to participate this year! For every 5 books they read they're able to win prizes but they must complete the Bluebonnets Google Form for each of the books they read! If you'd like additional information please take a look at the presentations linked below.
