Colton Hills School Bulletin
30 April 2025
High Performance Learning School
Introduction by Ms J Hunter, Headteacher
Welcome back to the start of our Summer Term!
Secondary school place offer letters have been sent out to 240 lucky Year 6 students. This will be our largest ever Year 7 group and as we start to think about our new Year 7 intake, this bulletin celebrates some of the opportunities our current Year 7 students have been enjoying. Great to see Year 7s participating in learning opportunities outside the classroom and developing their teamwork skills.
Today I have listened to a Year 13 student preparing for their A Level German speaking exam, seen some amazing Year 11 GCSE Art examination work and read some Year 13 A Level History work. It has reminded me of the sheer talent that we see on a daily basis in our roles as teachers at Colton Hills Community School every day.
The Summer Term is full of exciting events from our school show (Matilda) to sports day and the return of our summer fayre! I would like to take this opportunity to wish all examination year groups well.
Virtual Workshop with Dell Technologies
Our Year 12 ICT students were given the opportunity to engage in a virtual presentation as well as a Q&A session with personnel from Dell Technologies on Tuesday, 29 April, to explore career pathways and apprenticeship opportunities. These conversations help offer insights and guidance into the IT industry, and students were able to enquire about pay scales, entry level roles and qualifications.
Year 7 Girls Netball Team
Congratulations to our Year 7 netball teams who competed in the Wolverhampton School tournament. The girls played extremely well, with only 6 weeks of training and held their own, with a draw in most of their games. Some highlights included a goal by Elizabeth, interceptions by Ester, Tia, Gurleen, great marking by Arsh, Ester. Well done girls!
First Aid Training at Colton Hills
On Friday, 4 April, we welcomed a lovely group of first responders to our school today to demonstrate a few vital first-aid and life-saving skills to our students across all year groups. They were also taught what alternative products to use in an emergency to stop a bleeding wound. We would like to extend our thanks to West Midlands Fire Service and West Midlands Police for popping in.
Bikability Session
Spring 2 Rewards Day
On Thursday, 10 April, we rewarded students who met the criteria with a free roller-disco session. They enjoyed a workout in the sports hall to the latest tunes. It was a challenge for some to stay upright but they all had a great time with their friends. Look out for Summer 1 rewards coming soon!
Farewell to Mrs Woods
We said goodbye to Mrs Woods, our SEND Teaching Assistant on the last day of Spring Term. Mrs Woods has been with Colton Hills for 20 years, helped many students and seen many changes in that time. We will miss her dearly.
We would also like to take the opportunity to thank her for her dedication and services to the school.
