NOTRE DAME COLLEGIATE NEWS
November 2024
"You were made for Greatness" (Pope Benedict XVI)
Principal's Message
All Saints' Day, celebrated on November 1st, is a Catholic feast honoring all saints, known and unknown, who have attained heaven. It acknowledges the lives of holy men and women who serve as examples of faith, hope, and love. The day reminds us of our own call to holiness and the communion of saints, uniting the faithful on earth with those in heaven.
All Souls' Day, observed on November 2nd in the Catholic Church, is dedicated to praying for the souls of the faithful departed. It follows All Saints' Day and focuses on the purification of souls in Purgatory, helping them attain the fullness of Heaven. Catholics offer prayers, attend Mass, and perform acts of charity to aid the deceased in their spiritual journey toward eternal peace with God.
Catholic Social Teaching for November/December: Preferential option for the poor, vulnerable and marginalized
The Catholic social teaching of the Preferential Option for the Poor emphasizes the obligation to prioritize the needs of the poor, marginalized and vulnerable in society. Rooted in the belief that every person is created in God's image, it calls for actions that address inequality and social injustice. It addresses systemic issues like racism and discrimination, which often disproportionately harm vulnerable groups. By advocating for justice and equity, this teaching urges society to confront racial disparities, ensuring that the voices of the oppressed are heard and their dignity respected. This teaching urges individuals, and communities to ensure that the needs of the marginalized take precedence, advocating for policies that promote dignity, justice, and a more equitable distribution of resources. It challenges society to reflect God's love by uplifting those in need.
Calls to Action:
Let's make a difference! Support those in need by donating to the food bank. Every contribution counts—together, we can help fight hunger and support our community.
Let's stand together against racism and discrimination of all kinds. Speak up, educate yourselves, and challenge discrimination wherever you see it. Our voices matter—let's build a world where everyone is treated with dignity and respect

Attendance Matters!
For the 2024 – 2025 school year, CTR Catholic is reemphasizing the significance of daily attendance, which is crucial for student success. Homework, Google Classroom, and making up for missed class time do not replace the interactive and engaging teaching and learning experiences that take place during class. Students must be in class daily. Please see a LETTER from CTR Catholic’s Attendance Officer.
If your child is unable to attend school, please be sure to report their absence using one of the following:
- use our website under quicklinks "attendance"
