Hello Mahaffey Families!

September 10th @ 5:00-6:30pm we will be launching our Volunteer/Watch Dog parent meeting. Please come and join us and see how you can get involved at Mahaffey.

We have had numerous classes earn their letter P (their goal is to spell out PLAID) for amazing hallway expectations. Our Scotties are working hard on showing their PAWS behavior in and outside the classroom (P-PLAID, A-Accepting responsibility, W- Work hard S- Show respect).

Our students are working on creating their beginning-of-the-year (BOY) goals based on their current performance. More information will be shared about this during the Open House on September 18th. We can't wait to see you there.

Each month I will be giving updates on our daily campus attendance percentage. Absenteeism in the first month of school can predict poor attendance throughout the school year. Half the students who miss 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school.

Our goal from Mahaffey is to have 96.5% or higher for our daily attendance. Last year our average was 95%.

Averages:

23-24 School Year: 95%

24-25 School Year Goal: 96.5%

Texas First Responders Day Information: First Responders Day (September 11th)

Please complete the First Responders Day form to let us know how many participants we will have. Participants Google Form

For Grades 3rd, 4th and 5th be on the lookout for skating permission slips the week of September 9th. All permission slips and payment on School Cash online is due by September 27th.

Visitors are required to present a valid ID before entering our schools and district facilities. You will see this sign on all our front doors.

Please make sure to have you license ready to show the camera when you ring the door bell.

Once admitted in, you will let the door close behind you not holding the door open for anyone behind you.

In Klein ISD we use the Standard Response Protocol in case of emergencies. We review these items with the students throughout the school year.

DOORS

• All exterior doors require a keycard to enter
• Our resource officer along with administration conduct door checks throughout the door
• Our students are taught to NEVER open the door (this includes for fellow students or staff members).

Please assist us in the handling of custody related issues. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide the principal a certified copy of the court order affecting any other person’s right to their children.
