DECA Districts
This year, Lakeview DECA had 99 competitors, making it the largest chapter at the conference. Collectively, the chapter brought home a remarkable 17 exam medallions, 33 role-play medallions, and 64 state qualifiers, further solidifying its reputation as a top-performing program. Those 64 students will advance to the State Career Development Conference in Detroit, Michigan, this March!
Congratulations to everyone who participated and who is moving on to the State competition. Also, a huge thank you and congratulations to Mrs. Myra Bost and Mr. Tim Williams!
District Solo and Ensemble
On Saturday Feb. 1st the high school band and orchestra hosted the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association’s district 11 solo & ensemble event. District 11 is made up of over 35 schools in the Calhoun, Kalamazoo, and Allegan counties. Solo & Ensemble highlights students' individual and small group performances with judges who give feedback and a rating (1-5 with 1 being the best) and students earn medals if they receive a 1 or a 2 rating. The event saw over 500 high school students come to Lakeview to perform in solos or small groups. Lakeview students performed at a high level throughout the day and earned all division 1 or 2 ratings. We had wonderful volunteers between students and parents who helped the event run smoothly and everyone involved were extremely complimentary of our space and our organization. The band and orchestra would like to thank every teacher who let us use their room, every person who volunteered, the principals and admin for supporting this event, and anyone that helped in any way to make this event a success.
