Solar Eclipse Viewing on Monday, 4/8/24 from 2:00-2:15PM
Dear Highlands Families,
We are excited to announce that Highlands Elementary will be participating in the viewing of the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th. This celestial event provides a unique educational opportunity for our students to witness the wonder of the universe firsthand.
In preparation for this event, the district has purchased special glasses to ensure the safety of all participants. These glasses are specifically designed for viewing solar phenomena and meet the necessary safety standards. Additionally, our teachers and staff will be implementing all appropriate safety precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
We believe that experiences like these are invaluable for our students’ education and encourage their curiosity about the world around them. Witnessing a solar eclipse can spark interest in science, astronomy, and the natural world, fostering a lifelong love of learning.
However, participation in the solar eclipse viewing is voluntary. If you would rather NOT have your child participate, please sign and return the attached form by Friday, April 5th. If you choose not to grant permission, alternative activities will be provided for your child during the viewing period.
We understand the importance of safety and supervision during such events, and rest assured, we will have staff members on hand to oversee the eclipse viewing and ensure the well-being of all students.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the solar eclipse viewing, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Laura Noon Principal
