π Review Your Interventions
Step 1: Make note of the current Attendance Through date for reference
- Head to the Overview page.
- Make note of the Attendance through date which you can find on the top left of the page.
* Remember that the Attendance Through date is the last day attendance is counted in
A2A for the current set of interventions
Step 2: Review Interventions To Be Sent
- Go to the Interventions page and check which students are about to receive a notification.
- Determine if any should not be receiving a notification and verify the dates and type of events that trigger intervention accordingly by clicking the i next to the AS column.
π¨ Suppress Your Interventions
Suppression is the conscious decision not to communicate with the parent or
guardian regarding their childβs attendance.
Step 1: Determine which student needs to be suppressed
Look through your list of students in 'To Be Sent' column and verify who should not receive a notification and therefore requires a Suppression.
*A letter should only be suppressed if the school has communicated with the parent and knows the reason the student was absent.
Step 2: Select the suppression length
Select one of the three suppression length options:
- This Intervention: Suppresses the intervention this current run.
- 3 Absences: Suppresses the intervention every run until the student accrues an additional number of absences or equivalent periods.
- Indefinitely: Suppresses intervention indefinitely. This option is available upon request from your district office.
Step 3: Explain why it happened
Enter a note explaining why you suppressed or extended suppressed the intervention.
Note: When you suppress an intervention or leave a note, the icon will turn yellow π‘
indicating that an action has taken place.
*When you suppress a student, they will move from the To Be Sent list to the Suppressed tab.
π Schedule a Conference
Conferences in Attend are triggered as a result of an intervention that was sent.
The conference typically represents the initial attempt by the school to meet with the parent in an effort to reduce absences. Once a student is eligible for a conference, the designated attendance staff schedules the conference, and Attend will send an invitation to the parent.
Step 1: Look for the students that are scheduled to have a conference
Go to the Conference page and click the 'Students to be scheduled' tab.
Step 2: Schedule the Conference
*If choosing to type information in the 'Message To Parent/Guardian' box on the conference scheduler form, be sure to not include student identifiable information.
πͺClose a Conference
Closing a conference represents a documented successful or unsuccessful attempt to intervene in
a studentβs attendance habits. A2A provides a means to analyze processes and provide documentation of each attempt.
*All students must be assigned a conference status before the conference can be closed.
Step 1: Locate the Conferences that need to be closed
On the conferences page, locate the conference within the 'To Be Closed' tab.
Step 2: Open the Conference details
Open up and view the conference detail pages.
Step 3: Edit the Conference details
Click the Edit button at the top of the page to edit the conference.
Step 4: Confirm each Conference's status
Add a status to each conference.
Step 5: Save and close the Conference box
Save and close the conference.
π Reminders
- All conferences remain in the 'To Be Conducted' tab until the conference date has passed.
- Once passed, they move to the 'Conferences To Be Closed'' tab.
- To close a conference currently located in the 'To Be Conducted' tab, you must edit the date of the conference to a date in the past. Then save the conference before proceeding to give students a conference status.
