Message from the Principal
Highlights-
Lockdown Drill with Oakbrook Terrace Police Department - We had to reschedule the Lockdown Drill due to a scheduling conflict with the police department. Our new date for the drill will be Monday 10/21 at 10:00 AM.
White Cane Awareness Day - will be celebrated throughout the week of 10/14. Students will take part in shared reading experiences and games that demonstrate the importance of the white cane for the blind community. For the vision impaired, the white cane is an essential tool that gives them the ability to move freely and live an independent life.
PT Conferences - will be held for Swartz on Wednesday 10/16 from 3:00 - 6:45 PM or Wednesday 10/23 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM. Scheduling information should have come from your child's teacher(s).
EL Family Nite - Wednesday 10/16 at 6:30 PM Swartz Elementary School
Upcoming FTC Events - Fall Fest 10/19
Referendum Informational Meeting at Swartz - Wednesday October 23rd @ 6:00 PM
Positivity Project - The week's upcoming character traits and family letters are linked.
Halloween - Just like birthdays, we cannot have students bring in food items or candy to be passed out at school. Halloween is a regular school day. FTC will host a fall party the Thursday before fall break as an inclusive celebration for all. Halloween does fall during Red Ribbon Week, the last week of October. Our spirit day theme for 10/31 will allow students to wear school appropriate costumes if they so choose! But please remember that it is a regular school day and students will be playing outside at recess, attending PE, and should be able to take on and off their costumes independently to use the restroom. Please keep that in mind when determining their attire for the day!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Karen Marino
