Principal's Message
Dear La Paloma Families:
We are on the final countdown for the new school year. Our enrollment is changing daily. LAP is often the overflow school for the district, due to our central location, so that means we continue to grow once school starts. With that being said, changes will happen after school starts. This could mean students are moved to balance classes, or an additional teacher is hired or transferred to our site. Based on our current enrollment, I anticipate that the Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes will be affected and movement will occur in the first few weeks of school.
Please be sure to check our website for updated information as it becomes available. I have included some of the important dates and times below, so you can plan accordingly. Please also note the links to our calendars and Peachjar.
We look forward to seeing you all soon,
Aimee Plette
Principal
New La Paloma Staff: Bridgid Murray, Assistant Principal
I am thrilled to be joining the Wolf Pack family as La Paloma’s new assistant principal. While I have driven past LAP on my way to other school sites for several years, I am looking forward to now being at La Paloma and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of a team in creating a joyful and loving educational journey for our students.
I also want to take a moment to share a little about myself as we approach the 2024-2025 school year. For the past two years I have been the assistant principal at Live Oak Elementary; prior to that I was across town at Fallbrook STEM Academy where I worked as a classroom teacher, as well as the Innovation Lab teacher. I love school and learning new things, and I am also very fond of sports. It is not uncommon to find me at a student’s little league or basketball game.
While I am not a native ‘Fallbrookian,’ my husband and I raised our three kids in Fallbrook and have lived here for over 24 years. Our children’s experiences as students at our public schools, as well as having been 4 H members and athletes have woven us into the fabric of this place we call home.
As your new assistant principal, I look forward to working with our school community and you in order to provide your child with the experiences and tools to foster their growth and development both academically and socially. In addition, I look forward to participating in (and introducing) activities which provide the conditions so that our students are excited to come to school and to fully participate as La Paloma Elementary Wolves. It is my hope that students will take with them not only the skills necessary for academic success, but also the discoveries and experiences that they will fondly look back upon years later.
I hope you had a great summer! I can hardly wait to meet you at our Meet and Greet on Friday, August 9th or in the days to come!
New La Paloma Staff: Christine Manese, School Counselor
I am super excited to work with the students, families, teachers, and staff at La Paloma! This will be my 5th year working at FUESD as a School Counselor. I've mainly worked at Mary Fay Pendleton School on base at Camp Pendleton. Before that, I worked with the military population overseas on a military base in Japan as a School Counselor and have worked in higher education before that.
I received my B.A. in Human Development at CSU San Marcos and I'm also a proud alumni at San Diego State University where I received my M.S. degree in Counseling. If you see me at any SDSU men's basketball games, please say hi .
My husband and I have known each other in Japan since we both went to the same high school and we have an almost 1 year old who gives us so much energy and adventure that we cannot keep up.
Fostering relationships is super important to me in this counseling field, but also to get to know each and everyone one of you. I also have an open door policy, please come and see me should you have any questions or concerns you would like to address privately. Thank you and I look forward to working with you this year.
New La Paloma Staff: Steven Stillman, 5th Grade Teacher
Hello, my name is Mr. Stillman. I have been teaching in Fallbrook for 23 years. I was raised here and attended La Paloma Elementary from 3rd through 6th grade. I graduated from Fallbrook High School and then earned a teaching degree in Missouri, where I met my wife. We have both been teaching in California ever since. I also earned a master's degree in education in California and spent the last four years teaching in the virtual academy. I'm thrilled to be coming back to the classroom. My son recently graduated from Fallbrook High School as well. Besides being a comic book fan, I also love teaching math and science. I'm looking forward to the new school year with you and your families!
New La Paloma Staff: Haley Edwards, Educational Specialist
Haley Edwards is a dedicated special education teacher committed to empowering students with diverse learning needs. She spent two years at Potter Junior High and is now embarking on an exciting new chapter at La Paloma. Haley's academic journey took her to San Diego State University (SDSU), where she spent seven years earning a bachelor's degree, a teaching credential, and a master's degree in special education. During her time at SDSU, she also excelled as a collegiate athlete, playing water polo for four years. Haley is eager to gain new experiences and deepen her understanding of elementary education. Her personal goal is to always grow and learn more about education. When she's not in the classroom, you will either find her going new places with friends or relaxing with a book and her cats at home.
New La Paloma Staff: Breena Bogikes, Physical Education Teacher
A little about me -- I am credentialed in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education and Multiple Subjects. In my 25 years of teaching in the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District, I taught at Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary School as a classroom teacher for 17 years, taught summer school APE, and have been teaching Physical Education the past 8 years. I absolutely love what I do and the students I serve.
I am married and have two amazing sons that are in college out of state. I love being outside, teaching PE, spending time with my family, and traveling.
I look forward to a remarkable year with your child as we set goals toward healthy living, making good choices, and practicing an active lifestyle.
Thank you for sharing your child with me this year!
