Elementary Science

This April, you can celebrate Earth Month and make a difference in your community. Whether you volunteer with a community cleanup project, pick up trash around the school, work in the garden or just spend time enjoying and connecting with nature, April is a great time to celebrate our amazing Earth!

We have two NISD elementary teams to recognize after they moved on and competed at the Central Regional Championship competition on March 4th.

NISD Solar Car Race Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 22nd. The race is an all-day, fun-filled event where teams in grades 4th-8th show off their designs and problem solving skills while competing against other Northside Solar Car teams.

This event is located at Gustafson Stadium (7001 Culebra Rd.), and the opening ceremony begins at 9:30 AM.

We are still taking volunteers! If you are interested, this Volunteer Flyer contains information and registration link.

All 5th grade teachers have access to the Think BIG Learning Short Constructed Response resources that were presented at the March pull-out meeting. You can access these on the 5th Grade Science STAAR Review site.

Also, two 5th grade teachers at every campus have licenses to use the Think BIG Learning Science STAAR Blitz bundle that was purchased last year.

In this activity, students identify thermal, light, and sound energy in everyday objects and describe how items produce some or all of these forms of energy.

In the Interactive section of the module, students observe animals moving in different ways and identify the words that describe the movement of each animal.
