Principal Update
Trask Families,
I truly hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and enjoyed every minute with your loved ones. December is filled with events, so be sure to read everything in the newsletter so that you do not miss anything!
- Don't forget to swing by the Islands in Ogden tomorrow, 12/2/24, to enjoy some lunch or dinner, and mention Trask. Some of the proceeds will come directly back to our PTA!
- Students will be taking their math check-in on December 4th and December 5th. Students in Math 1 are scheduled for their assessment in January. Also, 8th-grade students will take their first science NCCI on December 10th and 11th. Make sure you are getting a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast! Use your strategies and take your time!
- We've got a lot of fun planned for December in the community! On 12/9 or 12/11, 6th-grade students will head to the planetarium/ocean museum, 7th-grade students will experience another CLDA trip on the 12th, and chorus students will head out into the community on the 18th to sing carols!
- The SGA is selling candy canes for Christmas (like the boo bracelets we did for Halloween). They will sell them at lunch from 12/3 - 12/12 and deliver them to the homerooms on 12/19. It will be 1 dollar for 1 candy cane. If anyone can donate candy canes to this group, they would greatly appreciate it!
- Our Chorus students will perform for our families on 12/9/24 at 6:30 at Trask. All are welcome to enjoy the beautiful concert!
- Interim reports will go home with your child in a couple of weeks. Be sure to check PowerSchool to ensure your child is caught up on all of their work. If you need PowerSchool access, please email Ms. Sims at Talesha.Sims@nhcs.net.

North Carolina Check in this week
Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will be taking their math North Carolina Check-ins on December 4th and December 5th. Students in math 1 will take their assessment in January.
Also, 8th grade students will take their first science check in on December 10th, and 11th.

Orchestra Concert Coming Up!
Mark down your calendars for our holiday Orchestra Concert at Trask on 12/16/24 starting at 6:00 in the cafe!
Trask Pilot for Go Guardian
NHCS has selected Trask as one of the pilot schools for Go Guardian. GoGuardian is an educational software company that provides services to monitor student activity online, filter content, and alert school officials if there is unsafe items occurring on our students computers. If you have specific questions, please contact Ms. Clark or Ms. Scharff, our instructional tech facilitator.
Interim Reports
Interim/progress reports will go home with your child on 12/13/2024! Be sure to take a look at powerschool now to ensure you are all caught up with your work! Please email Ms. Sims if you need access.
SGA Students selling Candy Grams!

6th Grade students will attend a field trip to the Planetarium/Ocean Museum on either 12/9 or 12/11!
7th grade students have their 2nd of 4 CLDA trips scheduled for 12/12/24 all day!
The chorus students will be headed to a community center to sign Christmas carols on 12/18/24
