Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families- It was an interesting week for me personally as this was the most time I have been out of the building since we opened. If felt very strange, but also good to be reminded that I have an amazing team around me who continues to take care of business when I’m gone! For two days this week I was part of a team who is responsible for synthesizing input from stakeholder groups for the purpose of drafting our district 5 year Strategic Plan. The team is comprised of staff, students, parents, and community members. We were fortunate to have four “Ridgeline” people represented, see my picture with Mason, Bella, and Mrs. Nielsen. This work was highly involved and the facilitator pushed the team to make difficult decisions and focus in on what our stakeholders seem to value most. I was very proud of our student reps, Mason and Bella. While I didn’t get to work in the same group with them, I listened to them share out loud and heard compliments from the other adults in the room. Plus, they gave up two school days to commit to this work and will have some additional responsibilities to follow up on.
Our athletic teams are competing fiercely in the league. Gymnastics got our first team win! Wrestling won an intense match vs LC on Senior Night. The blackout theme was a hit and we had our largest student section to cheer on the team.
Please take a look at the “Sense of Belonging” survey tucked down a ways in the newsletter. I want to bring it to your attention because, 1) it’s a survey, and 2) it’s an important survey for Ridgeline because it aligns closely with our mission- Belong. Inspire. Grow. We will encourage all students to participate in the survey on Tuesday, in Advisory.
We are into our last week of the 1st Semester. Finals are on Thursday and Friday and all work needs to be turned in and completed this week. Please stress that with your student.
Just to take the edge off, it looks like we’re doing a “comfy” themed spirit week next week. That’s a great idea from our ASB/Leadership kids!
Lots of great celebrations and info about coming events in today’s Flyer. Don’t miss out!
Make it a great weekend! –Mr. Hardt
Student Services
Congratulations, Christopher Mahn: National Merit Commended Scholar!
Each year, 1.5 million high school students take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Of that 1.5 million, approximately 50,000 earn scores high enough to achieve national recognition. Approximately 34,000 qualify as Commended Scholars, 16,000 as Semifinalists, and 15,000 (of the 16,000), advance to Finalist status, with 7250 winning National Merit Scholarship awards. The process is exceptionally competitive, and recognition on any of these levels is prestigious. Ridgeline High School and its entire campus community wish to congratulate Senior Christopher Mahn on being named Ridgeline High School’s first ever National Merit Commended Scholar!
Spring College Fairs
With the current seniors now deeply immersed in the college admission season, it’s now time to turn our attention to the underclassmen! Each year, the National Association for College Admission Counseling hosts in-person and virtual college fairs across the US. While there are no in-person, NACAC-sponsored fairs in Spokane this spring, there are virtual fairs in which interested juniors, sophomores, and freshmen can get a head-start on their college exploration processes. To register, have your student access this link, navigate to the “Virtual” tab in the middle of the page, and complete the registration for the virtual fair s/he wishes to attend. If you and/or your student have questions, please contact Mr. Spraggins (bspraggins@cvsd.org).
More FAFSA Completion Support
If you and your senior are looking for another opportunity for help with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Spokane chapter of Executive Women International will co-sponsor two events with the College Success Foundation over the next six weeks. Please see the flyer below for more information.

Ms. Teri described the importance of playing to learn, engaging various areas of development, and opportunities in the early childhood education career. As a bonus, Ms. Teri brought homemade play dough for students. Thank you, Ms. Teri and Liberty Lake Children’s Academy.
Graphic Arts
The culmination of the personal brand focus in Graphic Arts was for students to use their previously created Adobe Illustrator brand word clouds, and Canva mood boards, to create a personal logo and tagline reflecting their personal "brand" identity using Adobe Illustrator CC. They have done a great job of portraying who they are through these original creations, their combination mark logos. Well done graphic designers!
