Superintendent Quarterly
April 2024
Keeping the momentum going!
There are wonderful things happening here at Hubbard ISD! Walking around the facility this past week, I couldn't help but take in the upgrades we have implemented in such a short period of time. To list a few, we have added an elementary playground, increased security measures in a variety of capacities, added scoreboards, play clocks, completed the pk-1 grade building, new bell intercom system, etc. Currently, we are working toward replacing football stadium lights as well as gymnasium lights to LED which would provide cost savings as well as a better experience for our students. It makes me proud to see these changes, and we will never stop moving forward to provide the very best for the students and the community.
Instructionally, the elementary school received a grant to provide aligned reading and math curriculum with professional development support. This is a major deal as we strive to ensure that each and every one of our elementary students is equipped, and on or above grade level before entering junior high. The secondary school is providing more and more opportunities for our students through college and career readiness. This coming year we are adding the AVID program to assist students in preparing themselves for post-secondary education.
We have officially incorporated the Hubbard Education Foundation. This group is still in it's infancy stage, but here within the next couple of months you will hear from the Hubbard Education Foundation as we will be reaching out for your support. This foundation will provide a connection between the school and community, as well as provide teachers with innovative teaching grants to better support our students.
Finally, As you all are aware, April is a busy time of year for our students and the school district. Therefore, I encourage each one of you to keep yourself updated on the many social events happening such as banquets, award ceremonies, and graduation by following Hubbard ISD on Facebook. Thank you for allowing me to serve you as your Superintendent of Schools. Go Jags!
Elementary STAAR Testing Season is Here!
Parents, please be aware of the STAAR testing dates for 2024. It is important that your child is at school on those days. STAAR testing is very important for each child, so we ask that you ensure they have adequate rest from the night before, and either have a good breakfast at home or here at school. Our students and teachers have worked so hard this year, and I can't wait to see the results of that hard work. Go Jags!
Secondary STAAR Testing Season is Here!
All of the same is true from the above paragraph about the ES assessment. Parents encourage your students to delve into the test and ensure they have demonstrated their very best. We know how great our kids are, its time this month to show the state as we beat the state in our Approaches, Meets, and Masters percentages. Go Jags!
Secondary Parent Teacher Conferences - April 12th!
Secondary parent phone calls on April 12th. Parents should have already received a letter in the mail with their appointment time and the contact information that we will be using. If you need to make a change to your contact number, please let the office know.
Coffee with the Superintendent
During the Coffee with the Superintendent, I will update the group on testing and accountability, legislative updates, facility projects, and vision for Hubbard ISD.

Athletic Update - Powerlifting
This past powerlifting season Kinley Wragge placed 5th place at the state meet and Alyssa Kraayvanger placed 2nd at the state meet. We are extremely proud of these girls and we are very excited about the future as both of these girls return next year to compete. Also we had 7 girls make the regional meet, with all of them returning as well for next year. We had 2 boys make regional powerlifting this year, this program continues to grow more and more each year.
