Student iPad Information for Parents and Families
Parent and Family Reminders Regarding Student iPad Expectations
- Student iPads should be charged at home. We recommend that students do not bring their iPad charging cable and block to school due to potential theft.
- Student iPads should always be kept in the issued case. This minimizes the changes of accidental damage and is part of our lease agreement.
- Student iPads should be updated when updates become available. Student iPads receive notifications of when an update is available.
- If a student's iPad is lost/misplaced or damaged, students should see the iPad Manager, Mr. Dave Norby in the library as soon as possible.

Fair and Equitable Grading Information
Fair and Equitable Grading
- Johnson High School and all SPPS secondary schools will be shifting to create some positive changes to our grading practices beginning this school year. The shift will be to be more consistent and have equitable grading practices across all high schools to ensure that students' grades truly reflect what a student has learned. These grading changes will be implemented in stages over the next three years to ensure students and staff time to adjust. Some of the key changes will include:
- Educators will use a common grading scale across all SPPS high schools.
- Grades lower than "D-" will be noted on report cards as "N" and will affect students' GPAs. This is. a change from the past two years where non-passing grades have not affected students' GPAs.
- Educators will provide clear expectations on how students will be assessed at the beginning of a unit or course.
- Students will continue to be held accountable for their learning with multiple opportunities to show progress and understanding of the content.
- Educators will have consistent practices on retaking homework and test.
