UPDATED NCCS MISSION STATEMENT
In prayerful and committed work over the course a year, the Board of Directors, Administration and Faculty of NCCS, developed an updated Mission Statement. The goal was to refine the statement into something that could be remembered and seen as a reflection of who we are now and what we will continue to claim well into the future. As shared at the Society Meeting in May, below is the Mission Statement and an explaination. We are working toward incorporating it into all our programs and future planning. We give God all the glory for his leading in bringing forth this work. (Colossians 3:12-17; Hebrews 10:23-25)
We equip graduates to apply Biblical truth as disciples of Christ.
Mission Statement Explanation:
We- Christian parents, staff, and Board of Directors of NCCS work together in partnership;
equip- Preparation through spiritual, academic, artistic, social, and physical activity;
graduates- Students at all levels, PreK-12, regardless of their point of entry or exit at the school;
to apply Biblical truth- Students live out a Biblical worldview as revealed in God’s Word, guided by the Holy Spirit;
as disciples of Christ- A follower of Jesus who lives a spiritually mature life, reflecting him to the world, thereby bringing glory to God
Mission Summary: Guided by the Holy Spirit, the staff, parents, and Board of Directors of NCCS work in partnership to prepare students at all levels, PreK-12, through a comprehensive educational program that intentionally leads students to live out a Biblical worldview as followers of Jesus who live spiritually mature lives, reflecting Him to the world, thereby bringing glory to God.

Kali Dransfeldt
Kali came to NCCS in 6th grade. She played varsity volleyball all 4 years of high school, sang in Excelsior Choir her freshman year, and was a member of National Honor Society and ASB (student government), serving as President this year. Concerning memories from her time at NCCS, Kali notes that it would hard to choose, but says "I always enjoyed community building and simply spending time with new people, getting to know people from different classes; whether during Spring flings, family groups, or during lunch when we could hang out with whoever. On a more sentimental note, seeing God's love through the people around me at NCCS has truly been a blessing. During chapel a couple months ago, we were encouraged to reach out our hands on each other in a big group circle and just pray over each other. It was a moment of utter vulnerability and also recognition that we need to be there for each other, and to keep strengthening our relationships with the people around us. Kali will attend Northwest University in Washington where she will play indoor and beach volleyball. Her current plan is to major in exercise science with an accompanying minor. Kali's future plans include having a family, pursuing a career she enjoys, and traveling to experience other cultures and meet new people. Kali's scripture is Colossians 3:12-14, where we are encouraged to clothe ourselves in kindness and humility, and to forgive and love others.
Makayla Ferguson
Makayla has been at North Clackamas Christian for 6 years. During high school, she participated in choir, volleyball, basketball, and track and field. Her favorite high school memories are the bus rides for sports, as she says: "Blasting music and singing until we couldn't anymore; running back to the bus after getting food." From her senior year, Makayla fondly remembers going to all the soccer and basketball games and cheering for the teams. Makayla speaks for many by saying "If I'm being honest, I don't know exactly what I want to do. I mean, who does right after high school?" But she is excited to attend Ecola Bible College next year, and is interested in becoming an elementary school teacher or a college basketball coach. Makayla's future goals include traveling the world, having a family, and living on a farm where she would have cattle and train horses. Makayla's scripture is from Proverbs 3: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight."
Ashlyn Watt
Catherine Classen
Catherine came to NCCS for her junior and senior years. She remembers shadowing with Emmi and Kiki before coming, and many students encouraged her to transfer - which she did. Catherine says "The community is so welcoming and I have been so grateful for all the friendships I have made throughout my time here." Her senior year memories include time with friends outside of school, serve day, the many senior class events they planned and enjoyed, discussions in Bible class, and getting ready for school dances with friends. Catherine will attend Corban University beginning in the fall; while she is undecided in her major, she wants to follow where the Lord leads her throughout her future and looks forward to having a family of her own. Colossians 3:1-2 is the scripture Catherine chose, in which we are exhorted to seek the things above, where Christ is seated, and to set our minds on things above, not on things of the earth.
Ryan Hickman
Hayden Sutton
Hayden came to NCCS during his sophomore year. Following graduation, he looks forward to attending the University of Oregon. In addition to his academic pursuits, Hayden looks forward to going with the flow of life and accepting all that comes to him. A particular memory was the National Honor Society service with Night Strike, because, in his words, "it was fun connecting with the part of the Portland community that most people don't think about." Hayden selected Genesis 1:1 as a favorite verse: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."

Connie Thomas, a school counselor with over 40 years experience, will be co-teaching this course with Rebekah Hardy. We look forward to spending time with you refining our parenting skills through a biblical worldview, practical application, fellowship, and laughter.
On September 30, October 14, and October 28th we will meet at the school, from 9am - 12pm. We hope to have high school volunteers to provide childcare for children 12 and under. Registration will be available in August.
Pastries with Parents: E.N.G.A.G.E.D. - Seven Steps to Raising Christ Centered Kids in a Conventional World
We realize not everyone was able to attend our Pastries with Parents session, but we want everyone to have access to the content and learning we enjoyed together. Please see the attached document to watch the ninth and final video in the Raising Engaged Kids series on RightNow Media. There are notes and questions for your own discussion and reflection included in the attached document.
Even if you were not able to make our sessions, we hope you will consider joining us next year. This year's monthly gatherings have been a wonderful time of learning and connection. May we all continue to grow in our love and knowledge of Him in order to disciple our children to be equipped for life beyond our walls!
Remember, as a Society member of NCCS you have access to RightNow Media. There are Bible studies, children's programming, studies on marriage, mental health, parenting, and more! This high quality, Christian library resource is FREE to you!!!
