Principal's Message
Dear Eccles Families and Caregivers,
It is hard to believe that we are midway through May! These are special students and dedicated staff and we want to make the most of these last four weeks of school. I hope you find time over the next few weeks to reflect on the progress our students have made and appreciate the wonderful community we are part of.
On Monday, we celebrated our Jog-a-Thon fundraiser. I first want to say thank you to our PTA. They have put in a tremendous amount of energy into staff appreciation and all of our events. And thank you! It was a great success because of you. We celebrated together on Monday afternoon, and because we met our school goal, I received “a new paint job” from some of our most spirited runners. I’m still washing the blue out of my ear ;)
We have fun events scheduled for the end of the year that I am looking forward to seeing you at: the Eccles School Carnival, our last character trait assembly of the year, 6th grade Celebration, Field Day, and our 6th Grade/End of year celebration.
Thank you for all of your support!
Sincerely,
Kelly

New Family Event!
CHS Grad March at Eccles
Today the 2024 Canby High School graduates visited the elementary school they attended when they were younger. The graduates marched through the halls in their caps and gowns while students, staff, and even their families cheered and clapped for them! This was such an exciting and memorable time for everyone involved. Congratulations Graduates!
Student Dress/Attire
The Canby School District Student and Family Handbook states, “The district’s dress code is established to promote appropriate grooming and hygiene, prevent disruption and avoid safety hazards.”
Students have the right to:
- Dress and groom according to their choice within the guidelines set by each school and board policy.
Students have the responsibility to wear clothing that:
Is clean and adheres to health, sanitary, and safety standards
Does not disrupt the teaching/learning process
Does not display inappropriate language, symbols, or pictures
Further, at Eccles, students’ clothing should provide adequate body or undergarment coverage.
We always aim to work with students and families. If a student’s clothing does not meet the responsibilities stated in the handbook, or if it does not provide adequate body or undergarment coverage, staff will privately speak with the student and encourage a different choice of clothing the following day, or offer a change of clothes.
We appreciate your help in this matter.
Heath Reminders
As we are trying to finish out the year and keep as many students and staff here are school, we know that getting sick has it's inconveniences. Please remember to still adhere to our health guidelines (chart below). If you have questions about these, or your students day-to-day health when they are here with us at school, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office (503-266-7120) or Health Assistant, Kathy Rykken (kathy.rykken@canby.k12.or.us).
Summer Program Opportunities
Library Update with Mrs. Adams
It's May, so there's just one month left to check out library books from school. Books will stop coming home after May 31st, and all library books need to be returned by June 7th!
Any books more than 30 days overdue and any books not returned by June 7th will be marked lost and a replacement fee will be charged to your child's account. Overdue and Lost Books weekly reminder emails will resume on the morning of May 6th. Daily reminder emails will begin June 3rd and continue to the last day of school.
Please help your child keep track of their library books! Book replacement fees stay on your child's account through high school! We don't want to charge you money, we want the books back in the library. Thanks for your support!
Questions: Send an email or Remind message to Mrs. Adams in the library! (marlena.adams@canby.k12.or.us)
