Happy New Year to our Cape Cod Tech Community. 2025 brings new hopes and dreams for our students and families. Whether going out on COOP for our juniors or obtaining a driver's license, many students see the new year as an unknown opportunity. This year will be promising and prosperous for all. I remind all students that they will need to make their own success, as it is not given or obtained by luck. Success is obtained by hard work and dedication to a task. Good luck to all, as I know 2025 will provide whatever you put into it.

We are excited to announce the launch of a SchoolBrains App. The app allows parents to easily access your student's grades, attendance, and other essential documents on your phone. John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and National Technical Honor Society Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, January 14th. We will honor our seniors who received the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and our Juniors inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. Invitations have been sent to students' homes; please RSVP by January 9th.

Reminder: There is no school on January 20th to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr Day.

This month we honor Martin Luther King Jr.. On Monday, January 20th school is closed as we observe his birthday. (The actual date of his birth is Jan. 15th.) As we remember and honor his legacy, we should recall his teachings as they may help guide us in this new year. For 2025, I would like to share an MLK Jr quote that encourages all of us to be our best, especially in the most difficult times.

All CCT students taking driver's ed with CMSC Driving School Cape Cod in Hyannis will

receive a discount on the full driver's education program at $795 ($865 retail) for the

It allows us to distribute OTC medication and reach other contacts in case of an emergency. Please fill out this easy electronic form. The late bus is available for all student-athletes and students participating in after-school activities. Students who do not participate in activities will be denied late bus access.

Cape Cod Tech has a very clear cell phone policy. This year we are again making a point to include parents and guardians in our efforts to develop a professional atmosphere as we set our expectation of not using cell phones in class or shops. Technical programs will be holding and securing student phones for the day in order to keep the temptation of using the phone in the work setting. Academic classes will provide students with a safe place to store their phones during class. We expect students to adhere to these steps and policies to ensure they are not distracted from learning in the classroom or shop. We also expect it to have a positive effect by limiting negative social interactions via phones. We are extending this to smartwatches as stated in the student handbook. Employers expect employees to refrain from using their phones while "on the clock." It is our job to prepare students for the workforce and their future. Please support us in this effort.

The state expects a 95% rate for student attendance. We want to achieve a higher rate for the year. We can do this, but students need to come to school everyday. Over the last two years our attendance policy has been more lenient than in the past. This year we will be re-instituting the policy to the fullest extent. Our expectation is that you will follow future employer's expectations. Remember, your boss will expect you at work everyday, and so will your co-workers. Build healthy habits now. Come to school because we want you here!

Tardy

If a student is not present in the class/ shop at the time attendance is taken in the morning, they will be marked tardy and will have to report to the main office for a tardy pass. Accumulation of excess tardies as defined in the student handbook will result in disciplinary action. Being on time is an employability skill. Cape Cod Tech not only trains students in skills specific to their technical area but CCT also teaches professionalism and employability skills to the standards of the industries in which they represent.

Students needing a locker can come to the Main Office and see Ms. McLoughlin. She is Mr. Consalvi's Secretary. Lockers will be assigned upon request.

Click here for a link on how to use the Community Portal. This is a step-by-step guide on how to use our SchoolBrains Community Portal. Just follow the directions to access your student's grades, report cards, attendance and discipline reports. If you have trouble, email assistance@capetech.us

Step 1. - Student prints and completes the work permit application (pages 1 & 2 ). The application form can be picked up in the Superintendent’s Office or can be printed from the school website in both Student or Parent/Forms.

Step 2. Obtain signatures including:

1) employer,

2) physician’s office (*for 14 & 15 year-olds only),

3) parent/guardian, and

4) student.

Step 3. Return completed signature pages to Mrs. Mullen at the Superintendent’s Office before the first class or during lunch period.

Step 4. Mrs. Mullen will type the work permit.

Step 5. - Student and Superintendent sign the Work Permit and student gives it to the employer for their records.
