VMMS Community Connection
Week of September 2, 2024 - September 6, 2024
Greetings, Viper Community!
Thank you one and all for attending our Back to School Night event this week. It was amazing seeing our Viper families travel through each class to learn about our dedicated faculty, the foundations of our International Baccalaureate (IB) program like the Learner Profile Traits, and get a preview of the exciting learning opportunities ahead.
If you were not able to make it to Back to School Night, we will have each teacher's presentation slideshow available for you to view. This resource will be coming soon!
Please remember that there is no school, Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day.
Please call the office at (760) 726-5766 or visit the office M-F from 8:00-4:00 if you have any questions or need assistance.
Thank you!

TODAY! ASB Fundraiser @ Soapy Joe's
Please support our ASB (Associated Student Body) in their 1st fundraiser of the year!
Our ASB is an active student centered organization that is made up of Viper leaders who want to make VMMS a better place with fun events like Socials, lunchtime activities, the Student Store, and so much more! VMMS ASB partners with awesome community partners in Vista to fundraise throughout the year.
See the Soapy Joe's Flyers for more information TODAY Saturday, August 31st.
*Barcode from the Flyer is needed for DONATION.
Thank you for your support! (*Your car will thank YOU, too!)
Important Reminders for Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures
Please ensure that our Viper Students are safe by following the VMMS expectations for drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon.
1. Our main school parking lot (by pool) is NOT for student drop off. It is a Staff, Visitor, or AM PM parking lot during regular school hours.
2. Please be aware of students and staff crossing the parking lot and walking on the sidewalks that intersect the entrance/exit driveways.
3. The street in front of the school on Civic Center Drive is NOT a safe drop off location. It is a major traffic hazard to stop in front of the school to let your student out.
*Staff will be present next week in the school parking lot distributing reminder flyers. Thank you!
Supervised Pick-Up and Drop-Off located on Eucalyptus Ave. or enter through the field at the Citrus Ave. gate. Utilize the Pick Up/Drop off Loop for easy access. This typically flows very quickly and is SAFER for our Viper students.
Viper 101: Planners are a Tool for Success!
All our Vipers received a free VMMS Planner at the beginning of the year. This is a tool for success that they are going to need all year long. All our classes take the time to have students write daily assignments, calendar important dates, and view reminders from our student handbook.
Please look through the planner WITH your Viper to stay informed on their academic journey this year. A routine planner review builds connection and helps with conversations about your student's learning and level of engagement in their classes.
Viper Expectation Reminder
We want to ensure that all our Vipers are focused on their learning and being EPIC. Please help your Viper remember this important expectation found in our Student Handbook:
Sales and Exchanges of Money: Students may not sell any items to other people or exchange money at school. Students must bring their own food, drinks, and personal items needed for school and may not purchase them from other students.
Food Distribution: Do not bring any food items to share with other students. Food allergies and nutrition needs must be considered, so it is not safe or appropriate to bring food for students other than your own.
Thank you for your support!
VMMS Lanyard & ID
Our Vipers have collectively been getting into the swing of the new year. Part of our dress code for safety and belonging is to wear our VMMS Lanyard & ID everyday. Every student received a free lanyard and ID to start the school year.
If students forget their lanyard and ID they are asked to "sign in" in the office or in their classroom. If your Viper has lost their lanyard and ID or would like to have more than one set, they can purchase them in the front office. The cost is $5.00 per lanyard/ID.
We understand that students may need to build skills in organization and responsibility. There is an before/after school Viper 101 Organization class for students who need support in remembering their lanyard and ID.
Thank you for helping your student be responsible for remembering their lanyard and ID!
VMMS School Site Council (SSC)
Interested parents can fill out THIS FORM by Friday, 9/6 to express interest in joining our SSC. An election may be held if there are more interested parents than spaces available.

The Viper Way: Be Epic!
We are excited to welcome all Viper students! There are many campus events that will be taking place the first few weeks of the school year to support connection and belonging at VMMS. Grade levels and village teams will do lots of motivational lessons and activities to engage Vipers as they take on the new school year i.e. Essential Agreements, growth mindset, etc.
Help us cheer them on as they embark on an new and EPIC learning adventure at VMMS!.
Please be sure to review our Student and Parent/Guardian Agreements to support your student's success this year.
In addition, as a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) school we will be focusing on The Viper Way: Be Epic! These are our school-wide behavior expectations that will be introduced and referenced throughout the school year.

JOIN VMMS PTA
On behalf of our 2024-2025 VMMS PTA Association we thank all the parents, students and other supporters that have signed up to join our VMMS PTA thus far and look forward to additional member support throughout the year!
This is a great way for student members to learn more about the association and vote on various subjects that impact our school! Anyone can join and there is no obligation to attend any meetings or participate (though we would love it if you would). The membership dues collected go towards supporting various programs, events and other needs for our students and staff.
Please stay tuned for the PTA's 1st general association meeting that will happen very soon.
We look forward to an amazing year at VMMS with your partnership!
