2024 Special Ambassador Award
Congratulations to Rita Roussin, Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher at Marquette High School. She is a 2024 Special Ambassador award winner! The Special Ambassador Award honors community members who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to SSD, its mission, and its students. This year’s recipients support students in a multitude of ways in the classroom as well as the community. They are dedicated to ensuring our students excel to their greatest potential. We are immensely grateful for their generous support.
"Rita Roussin, a Family and Consumer Science Teacher at Rockwood Marquette High School, plays a significant role in advocating, promoting, and creating inclusive environments and supporting individuals of all abilities. For the past several years, she has taught the school’s Life After High School Mentor class, which pairs typically developing students with their peers who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and receive services through SSD. This course not only creates an opportunity for mutual learning and growth, but also fosters a culture of empathy, understanding, and respect among students. Her work has had a profound and multifaceted impact, significantly enhancing the educational experience and fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for students, educators, and the community as a whole." - Emily Stockwell, Teacher/Rockwood School District
2024 Key to the Classroom Award

Each nomination was carefully considered by a judging panel of SSD administrators.
“Sarah Studie's professionalism, leadership, care, compassion, expertise, knowledge, and skill set are just some of her many qualities that make her shine so bright; a gem; a true treasure.” - Jamee Heidmann, Speech Pathologist
