RECENT AWARD WINNING BOOKS IN THE LIBRARY
Each year, the American Library Association (ALA) honors books, videos, and other outstanding materials for children and teens. Recognized worldwide for the high quality they represent, the ALA Youth Media Awards (YMA), including the prestigious Newbery, Caldecott, Printz, and Coretta Scott King Book Awards. This helps to guide parents, educators, librarians, and others in selecting the best materials for youth. Please stop by the library to find some of this year’s winners along with past honorees!
The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by the American Library Association to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
