Doyon News
January 17, 2025
Dear Doyon Families,
Students have enjoyed a wintry week here at school! It was certainly exciting to venture outside and play in the newly fallen snow throughout the week, even though it’s not nearly as much snow as we might anticipate this time of the year. I’m not sure about you, but I’m hopeful that we experience a true snowstorm in our area sometime soon (perhaps this hope will come true on Sunday evening)!
A big thank you to the wonderful Mrs. Welch in grade three and FRIES who helped to organize Mini-Movement workshops. Second graders were refreshed and ready to learn after their classroom dance experiences. We are grateful to have continued support to offer this programming to our learners.
On Thursday evening, a number of staff members interconnected to our early childhood team across the district presented information to families interested in learning more about our preschool programs. If you are a family with a student who will be turning three or four, please be sure to consider joining us for an early childhood screening later in the spring. You’re welcome to visit our preschool website to learn more about offerings.
As a reminder, school will be closed on Monday, January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Please consider sharing with your children the importance of this special day. We will explore this topic at school, as well.
Please be sure to take a moment to process through the remainder of this newsletter. There are a number of upcoming events in our school community and I'm excited to see many of you there! If you need anything, I’m here to help!
Warmly,
Mr. Whitehouse-Mullen

Open Library Time
Beverly Farms Book Fair!
Book Fair season is upon us! We are very excited to be partnering with the Bookshop of Beverly Farms again this year. The Bookshop of Beverly Farms is owned by an Ipswich family, and working with an independent bookstore will allow us to offer a wide range of titles. The book fair will run from February 4th-February 6th. If you are interested in volunteering for the fair, your help is greatly appreciated! Please see this sign-up genius for the class schedule and volunteering opportunities. Thank you!
*A big thank you to our wonderful librarian, Ms. Hohenstein, for the coordination of this event!*
Nurse's Notes 🩺
Hello Doyon Families!
We are still seeing some GI illnesses in the upper grades as well as Flu A in 5th grade.
The students love going outside in the snow! If you have any gently used snow pants and/or snow boots in various sizes to donate to the nurse's office, I would so appreciate it! The weather is so unexpected this time of year and it is helpful to have these items on hand for those who don't have the necessary gear to have fun in the wet snow. Thank you in advance!
