And now, a word from our teachers across the school...
Activity & Sixth Grade
Mrs. Knapp's 6th grade Design Engineers have been planning, building and testing an ankle foot orthosis for a child with Cerebral Palsy. Their goal: to provide enough support to re-train their clients' calf muscles to improve everyday mobility.
Seventh Grade
In ELA, we have learned about narrative writings and science fiction poems. We have also evaluated how an author's point of view shapes the writing and central idea. We read two argumentative poems about men on the moon. One claimed going to the moon was a waste of time and the other was for going to the moon. - Contributed by Izzy Murrell in Ms. Wilhite's class.
In Mr. Wrenn's ELA, students have been learning how to write editorial essays that contain their opinion on a particular topic including evidence to support their opinion. Also, they have been reading lyric poems and are writing their own song lyrics.
Eighth Grade
In 8th grade science, students are beginning unit 3 on waves. Students will use Polaroid and Kodak cameras to study how analog and digital devices use waves. Eighth grade social studies is also excited about the field trip to the SC State Museum on November 26th. Pictures are forthcoming. Watch for them in January's newsletter!
Library
On January 10th, 2025, we will welcome author Landra Jennings to our school. Mrs. Jennings wrote Wand and The Whispering Fog, one of our Battle of the Books books. There is an order form available to purchase a copy of her book by December 16th for your child to have her sign during her visit.
The library also has 12 ounce jars of honey for sale to support the replacement of the school's observation bee hive. They are asthetically labeled and would make nice gifts for $15 each.
