2024 Field Day Wish List
On June 7 we will have our annual field day event for students. Please see the sign-up sheet for items needed to make this event a success. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
Newburyport Public Schools Youth Art Walk
Celebrate the artistic achievements of our students as their artwork takes center stage in the Newburyport Public Schools Youth Art Walk, made possible by the Newburyport Education Foundation and local businesses. From May 11th to May 31st, selected pieces from kindergarten to grade 12 will be displayed in local participating businesses, coinciding with the Waterfront Music Festival on May 18th. Families and friends are encouraged to explore the exhibit together, please support our young artists and celebrate their creativity as part of this exciting event!
24-25 Class Placement
We are in the process of class placement for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a thorough, thoughtful process that considers the whole child’s academic, social and behavioral needs. The entire Bresnahan staff participates in this process to ensure that students are mindfully placed to have a successful school experience. With the large number of students in the building, we cannot take placement requests. Thank you for understanding and trusting the process.
Clipper Courses
Our Clipper Courses will be ending the week of May 28th! If your child takes a Clipper Course on Mondays, their last course will be Monday, May 20th. Please adjust School Dismissal Manager with the appropriate dismissal routine for your child!
NEF School Pollinator Garden at FTB
Volunteers needed on Saturday, May 25th 8-12 (rain or shine) for our NEF School Pollinator Garden.
The NEF (Newburyport Education Foundation) has generously funded the materials for the beds/soil and the purchase of pollinator plants for all classes to plant in their grade level bed. We need you to help build/fill the bed for your child’s grade.
Please note: We do need a few items (see listing).
Supplies to borrow for the morning per team:
1 wheelbarrow (5 total)
2 cordless drill/screwdrivers (10 total)
2 shovels (10 total)
Questions? Contact ssimon@newburyport.k12.ma.us (Miss Sue)
CORI Process
All volunteers must have an up-to-date CORI on file with the Newburyport Elementary Schools.
Bring the completed CORI form along with your driver's license to the Administrative Assistant at our school office.
Please note CORI's are only valid for three years; after that you must reapply.
Fingerprinting
In keeping with Newburyport's continued focus on safety, volunteers/parents are required to be fingerprinted in two instances:
If you are going on a day or overnight field trip and will have direct and unmonitored contact with children;
If you are a lunchroom volunteer and will be bringing children out to the playground. Parents who volunteer in the classroom DO NOT need to be fingerprinted, if there will always be another adult present.
Massachusetts has contracted with MorphoTrust for fingerprinting. To book an appointment, visit the Massachusetts IdentoGO Website.
Please be aware there is a $35 fee for fingerprinting. Fingerprinting does not expire.
Kindergarten Registration 2024-2025
Registration for the 2024-2025 academic year begins February 1, 2024. There is no deadline for public kindergarten. Please submit your registration at your earliest convenience.
See our Enrollment Page for required forms and documents.
Walk and Roll Wednesday's
Please join us for Walk and Roll on Wednesday's! Let's get out of our cars and meet up as neighbors and friends to walk, bike, or roll to school. Walking and rolling is a healthy way to start the day, it's beneficial for the environment, promotes independence and it's FUN! Join a neighborhood meet-up spot (see attached maps for locations), or make your own!
Newburyport Learning Enrichment Center
Community Service of NBPT
Join the 2024-2025 PTO Board!!
The PTO is a great way to get involved and make an impact on our school community. We have specific openings for Assistant Treasurer, Vice President, and Molin teacher reps for next year's board. Additionally, all board positions can be shared so if you have interest in other areas, please reach out. The more the merrier! The PTO represents the Bresnahan, Molin and Nock schools, and meets once a month during the school year (but these meeting obligations can be shared as well!) Please email newburyportpto@gmail.com if you are interested. Thank you and we hope to see you next year!
PTO/NYS/River Valley Speaker Series: Katie Greer, Digital Safety
Earlier this year, Katie Greer, a national digital safety expert, spoke at the Nock as part of the PTO/NYS/River Valley Speaker Series about children and technology.
The PTO was thrilled to bring Katie back this past Monday, this time to talk to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders! Katie captivated our students with crucial insights on social media use, privacy issues, and staying safe on various technology platforms, including video games.
What sets Katie apart is her non-judgmental approach—she respects how different families handle technology and focuses on empowering our kids with the knowledge they need about the consequences of online engagement.
