Administrative Assertions
November break hopefully provided a time for students, families, and staff to reflect and relax before the winter season. We are so proud of the reverence displayed by our students at the Remembrance Ceremony held prior to the break. This important event was especially impressive as the ceremony was led by students. Thank you to the students and all staff involved in organizing this event.
Performances of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka at the Lougheed Centre are occurring on Friday and Saturday at the Lougheed Centre. Our fine arts students are quite skilled and we are proud of them for representing ÉCCHS so well. Our construction students did an awesome job in building pieces for the set. Thank you to Mrs. Robson and all of the people involved in the production!
Our Wall of Fame Ceremony, Awards Night, and Honours Recognition on November 22 all went well. We are so proud of our current and former students who continue to excel in academics and citizenship! It was great to see our former Grade 12 students being recognized at Awards Night.
As we continue through the latter half of Semester 1, we trust that all students find success in maximizing learning opportunities. Moving into 2025, we wish our students, families, and staff an enjoyable holiday season.
Please contact us if you have questions.

*The Senior Band students offered their talents in honouring those who served in the Canadian military at the Legion's Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11 at the CRE. We had nearly every student in the Band in attendance, a remarkable fact as the date fell in the November BRSD school break; a big "thank-you" to the students for making the extra effort and paying their respects in the ceremony.
*Thanks to Marissa Wilm, Paige Smith, Natalie Schapansky, Jemma Lavergne, Olivia Belanger, and Kael Aaron for their performance of our anthem at the ECCHS Awards ceremony on Friday, Nov 22.

Student Council
Since the update in the last sketch, the student council prepared a week of Halloween fun for the Trojans. Activities included face painting, a costume contest, and lots and lots of candy. As November rolled around students had the opportunity to honor our war veterans, they were invited to attend our Remembrance day ceremony on November 11th. We also created and displayed a pillar of remembrance, made from paper poppies along the spiral staircase. The goal of this being to spark gratitude among students, and encourage them to express who or what they have gratitude for. After the student council got the privilege of hosting a ceremony of acknowledgement for our outstanding faculty members and previous Camrose Composite students, that have been selected to commemorate the substantial contributions they have made in our community. This year inductees included Sten Myrehaug who is a radiation oncologist, Diane Gee who is a former Composite teacher, and finally Lorne Blumhagen associated with the local police force. Next we got the opportunity to recognize some of our current Trojans during awards night, select students who achieved honors grade standings last year were certified with their academic excellence awards. Throughout the month of November the student council raised awareness for men's prostate cancer with participation in Movember. We drew painted mustaches on some of the student body and then held a stage walk so they could "strut their 'stache". Moving forward, the student council has big projects for the month of December including another theme week with daily activities like crafting gingerbread houses and a formal wear day. Student council is also intending to connect with the multicultural club to help organize a heritage day. This would help us celebrate our diverse ethnic backgrounds demonstrating traditional costumes and performances. Additionally, the student council would like to strongly encourage students to participate in our month-long food drive throughout December. All contributions from the food drive will go directly to supporting local families and engagements from the 4 grades will result in prizes for the grade with the most donations. Thanks for another great month, way to go trojans and staff!!
ÉCCHS Athletics - December 2024
Volleyball
Volleyball has officially wrapped up here at ÉCCHS. Both our senior boys and girls teams competed at their zone championships on November 16th. Our boys travelled to Lacombe for their tournament as the 2nd overall seed in the zone and 10th ranked team in the province. They had a great day, eventually ending up in the final against the number three ranked 3A boys team in the province and host, Central Alberta Christian High School. Unfortunately they came up a bit short and lost the final, but were holding out hope, because they were the 10th ranked team in the province, that they would get a wildcard to provincials. The way that wildcards were allocated this year, they also came up short, and didn’t get a trip to provincials.
Our senior girls volleyball team, as the number one team in the zone, hosted their championships on November 16th. The girls played well all day and were able to make it to the final for the third 3 in a row. They faced HJ Cody, who they beat in league play in a 5 set marathon and in the zone final last year. Unfortunately this year, HJ Cody got the better of our Trojan girls and defeated them in a close final.
The silver lining for our high school volleyball is, both our junior girls and boys teams as well as our senior girls and boys teams finished 2nd in their respective leagues. The future is bright for next season.
Basketball
Basketball season is off and running! The Sr. Boston Pizza Classic Tournament tips off Friday, November 29, and in the first 2 weeks of December, all levels of the program will be decided and in action. The JV and grade 9 teams will see their first games of the season the week of Dec 9-15.
This season, every team has lofty goals, hoping to mimic some of the success of years past. If you would like to see games in person, please pay attention to our social media posts and our Athletics Calendar on the school website. The GR. 9’s play regularly on Monday and Thursday evenings, the Sr.’s on Tuesdays, and the JV’s on Wednesday.
For the BP Classic (and all other tournaments), check out the ECCHS website for a schedule and Livestream links - come on down and support the Trojans!
