School Board Highlights
February 11, 2025
Enrollment and Staffing
The Board reviewed enrollment projections against the district’s staffing plan for the 2025-2026 school year. Current enrollment of 1,850 for grades K-8 is projected to increase slightly for next year, according to projections. The staffing plan is expected to remain similar to this year, said Dr. Scott Warren, superintendent.
Staff Survey
The results of a staff survey regarding specific areas covered in the 5Essentials survey were presented to the Board. The survey looks at district learning conditions around leadership, collaboration, supportive environment, ambitious instruction, and involved families. The survey results were positive, Dr. Warren said.
School Calendar
The Board reviewed an amended 2025-2026 calendar after a district calendar committee provided input into the dates. The most recent draft brings District 103’s end date closer to Stevenson High School’s date. The Board will vote on the amended 2025-2026 calendar at the February regular meeting.
Student Involvement
The Board has been moving forward with including student voice in school board meeting discussions. Dr. Katie Reynolds, Assistant Superintendent, provided the Board with possible interview questions, once students submit letters of interest to the Board for the position. Dr. Reynolds said the timeline to solicit candidates for the position would be in the spring. The student involvement candidates would come from next year’s eighth-graders (current seventh-graders) who would submit letters of interest for the non-voting position. Students would serve on the school board beginning in the fall 2025. Students would act in an advisory role to the Board representing their classmates’ point of view on certain topics.
iPad Lease
The Board reviewed a four-year Apple lease for 410 (10.9 inch) iPads in the amount of $132,840. The Board is expected to act on this item at its next meeting.
