Attendance Matters
At Zion-Benton Township High School District 126, the guiding principle is that every student matters, and every day in school counts. Recognizing that chronic absenteeism can have a lasting impact on a student’s academic success, the district has launched a comprehensive approach to keep students engaged and supported: the Attendance Matters program.

Facilities Master Plan Town Hall Meeting
District 126 is engaged in developing a comprehensive 10-year Facilities Master Plan. The end goal is to establish a long-range plan to invest in facilities that accommodates enrollment, instruction, programs and support over the next 10 years, and reflects efficient and sustainable fiscal practices. The district in partnership with our Architectural firm, Wold Architects and Engineers, hosted 2 Town Halls, one at Zion-Benton High School on Tuesday, 12/3/24 and one at Zion-Benton East High School on 12/5/24 seeking feedback from the community.

Community Outreach
The Board of Education recognized….at their monthly meeting on Tuesday, 12/17/24. Explain why we recognized these partners.
Academics
The Board of Education has adopted a comprehensive e-Learning plan for 2023-2026, allowing the District to maintain continuity of education if students cannot be physically present due to emergency closures, most commonly caused by inclement weather. During winter months, we collaborate with neighboring school districts to monitor conditions and make timely, informed weather-related decisions whenever possible.
On an e-Learning day, students are expected to log into their learning management system, submit their attendance by 10:00 a.m., and complete learning activities assigned by their teachers. For full details on the District’s e-Learning plan, please visit our Academics page on the District’s website.
Athletics
We hosted the first-ever Zion-Benton Turkey Showdown Girls Basketball Tournament at ZBTHS! What made this event extra special? We had a father-son duo from our ZeeBee family as announcers: Tim Neargarder, Class of 1990, and his son, AJ Neargarder, Class of 2025, teamed up to call the games. 🎙️💛❤️
It’s incredible to see generations of ZeeBees coming together to support our school and athletes. Stay tuned for more highlights from this exciting tournament!
The Zee-Bee Basketball programs came together this past Thanksgiving and raised over $1500 to purchase and give out over 150 free turkeys to local families. Our Bees not only excel in competition, but also in the community. Special thanks to our Boys and Girls Basketball teams and coaches, as well as our Maintenance team, Business Office, Zion Wal-Mart, Humanity First, D 126 faculty and staff, NHS, Emerald Night Photography as well as Mr. Kubic, Mr. LaBelle, Ms. Walker-Hakeem, and Dr. Brown for stopping in to assist and support.
