Preschool Enrollment
Many parents have expressed interest in preschool registration for the upcoming 2025-26 school year, and it's incredible how quickly it approaches! To help ease your concerns, here are our registration dates:
1. Current Preschool Families:
- Priority Registration for Preschool 3's and younger siblings will begin with a Google Doc sent out on November 6th, to be completed by November 15th.
- By no later than November 22nd, you will receive information about your child's class placement for the upcoming year at BFA.
2. Current BFA K-8 Families:
- "Intent to Enroll" for current BFA K-8 families will open on December 4th at 9:00 AM. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis with a timestamp.
- This form will close on December 11th at 9:00 p.m. and after that date any BFA families that hadn’t expressed interest at that time, will need to fill out the “Intent to Enroll” in January with the public and will lose their priority spot.
- Current BFA K-8 families will receive information about their child’s class placement or waitlist status by December 13th.
3. Public Enrollment:
- On January 8th, the "Intent to Enroll" will become available to the public at 9:00 am If any seats remain open at this point, they will be offered to the public.
4. Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program
- BFA Preschool will be renewing our application for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program for the 2025-26 school year, aiming to offer free or low-cost preschool opportunities for many of our families. Those interested in enrolling their children in BFA Preschool are required to complete an ‘Intent to Enroll’ form available on our website.
- Upon submission, if a seat is available in any of our classrooms, we will guide parents through the enrollment process both at BFA and for the UPK application. In the event that seats are not immediately available, your child will be placed on a waitlist. Should a seat become available, we will promptly notify you.
5. Who is eligible for universal preschool?
Children in Colorado can receive up to 15 hours per week of free, high-quality preschool during the year before kindergarten through the Universal Preschool Program (UPK). Some families may qualify for additional free hours based on specific criteria. However, BFA only offers the 15-hour option.
If your child has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), their services must be provided through a District School, as BFA preschool does not receive state funding to support specialized services requiring professional staff.
For more information, visit Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program or sign up for the class.

Kindergarten Registration for Current Preschool 4s
Can you believe that it's already time to start thinking about kindergarten? Well, it's true! Please mark your calendars for Thursday, October 24th at 1:00 pm. On that day, we'll be hosting a Zoom call with our K-8 director of admissions and records/registrar, Colleen Bobbin, who will provide an overview of the 'open enrollment' process. This session is important for ALL families, whether you already have an older child at our school or you're enrolling your first child. If you can't attend the live session, don't worry; we will be recording the session and sending it out per email, so you can watch it at your convenience. During the live Zoom call, you'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the process. We'll start promptly at 1:00 pm since we only have a 40-minute free time allotment with ZOOM, and we want to ensure we address all questions. Typically, these meetings last about 30 minutes, just for your planning purposes. I'll send out a reminder email on Wednesday as a reminder.
Lori Hafner is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Looking for Creative Volunteers!
Do you have older kids in the school that you as a parent are looking to get "at-home" volunteer hours, or do you simply enjoy being creative? If so, we have some opportunities that might be perfect for you!
Help from Home Our preschool team is looking for parents who are willing to take on cutting projects to help our teachers prep materials. This is a great way to support the classroom from the comfort of your own home. This would be on a need help basis from each teacher.
Creative Touch for Dramatic Play If you have a flair for creativity, we would love your help enhancing our dramatic play center. We have themes planned for each month but are always looking for ways to make them even better. You can choose the themes that inspire you the most, and we'll provide you with what we have already started and then you can go from there.
Tech-Savvy with a Creative Eye? We’re also looking for a tech-savvy parent to create our end-of-year slideshow. We’ll provide all the photos, and with your creativity, you can put together a memorable video with music. Whether you prefer iMovie, Canva, or any other program, it’s up to you!
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Please let us know if you're interested in lending a hand in any of these areas. Your support means so much to our preschool community!
Halloween
Halloween Party
🎃Our first classroom party is right around the corner, if you haven’t from your room parent yet to see on ways you can help out you will be shortly if they still need help.
Here are some important details about the Halloween parties:
1. Children arrive at school already dressed in their Halloween costumes, if they are choosing to dress up. We will NOT be putting on costumes after their arrival. Please consider how your child will manage using the restroom with their costume. If necessary, make modifications for their comfort and convenience, as party days can be a bit overwhelming for the little ones.
2. Parents of Mrs. Olson's class, please ensure your child brings spare clothing or wears clothes underneath their costumes, as they will be taking off their costumes after the party.
3. Preschool 3's and Mrs. Olson's Pre-K MWF classes, we'll have a Trunk-n-Treat event shortly after drop-off (around 8:35 am). The children will enter the school, drop off their backpacks, and pick up their treat bags before heading out to the preschool parking lot for the Trunk-n Treat activity. All parents are invited to participate in the trunk-to-treat event for our preschoolers. The more trunks the more fun it is for the preschoolers.
4. Preschool 3's and Mrs. Olson's Pre-K T/TH classes, we'll have a Trunk-to-Treat event at the end of the party beginning at 9:30 in large school parking lot. All parents are invited to come to that part of the party to see the children in their costumes as they parade from trunk to trunk.
5. We kindly request that you do not bring Halloween buckets. We will provide bags for the children on party day, and we do not have enough space in the classroom to store additional buckets, especially on a busy party day.
6. If you are volunteering for our Halloween party, please check in at the office before entering the classroom. We'll need to scan your driver's license through our system, and you'll be provided with a badge if you don't have a volunteer ID. Please note that younger siblings will not be allowed to attend the parties.
7. Volunteers can begin setting up the classroom at the specified times listed below. Please do not arrive before the designated time. Only the assigned volunteers and the room parent will be permitted to attend the party. If you are not volunteering for the Halloween party, there will be opportunities to volunteer on other dates.
Party Volunteers:
Preschool 3’s: Party organizers can start setting up at 7:45 am. The party should be completed by 9:30 am to prepare the children for the rest of their day.
Olson: Party organizers can start setting up at 7:45 am. The party should be completed by 9:30 am to prepare the children for the rest of their day.
Eframo: Party organizers can begin setting up at 12:15 pm. The party will start at 12:30 pm with Trunk and Treat, followed by the party.
We want to express our gratitude to everyone working hard to make this a fun day for our preschool children. They are very excited, and our staff is equally thrilled. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or if there's any way, we can assist you.
In the Classrooms
Mrs. Hafner’s Teaching Moments
Social and Emotional Learning (Preschool 3's & Pre-K):
This week, in social and emotional we will begin our next unit on empathy. Our goals of this unit are to help children identify and understand feelings and how to show care concern for others. We want the children to begin to understand that other people can have the same or different feelings about the same thing. In both classes we read some fun books about all different kinds of feelings that we can have and talked about what can make us have each of those different feeling.
Engineering Meets Fairy Tales! (Engineering Unit (Pre-K)
This week, our young engineers stepped into the world of fairy tales! We began by exploring what makes a story a fairy tale, enjoying classic tales like Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We discussed the important lessons these stories teach.
Then, it was time to put on our engineer hats! Using cups and index cards, the children designed and built a new beanstalk for Jack. We also worked with a bridge-building kit to create a strong, sturdy bridge for the goats to cross—one that the Troll couldn’t break!
This hands-on activity was a wonderful opportunity for our students to collaborate, stay curious, and practice problem-solving skills in a fun and creative way.
Mrs. Olson’s Busy Bee Teaching Moments
Our Busy Bees have been buzzing with excitement as they begin their new unit on families this week! They enjoyed reading Houses and Homes by Ann Morris and created their own houses, filling them with their family members while discussing what makes up a family.
Using the rhyme "5 Little Monkeys," they worked with words ending in "ed." They also explored sequencing by learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin plant.
For a bit of math fun, the kids had their first introduction to simple addition, using some delicious manipulatives for counting—ask them what tasty treats they used! The children have also enjoyed our guest readers this week as well. Thank you to Kyler and Giana’s parents for sharing a story with the kids. We also love celebrating birthdays in the Busy Bee room, and it is extra special when parents will come in to read!!
Mrs. Eframo’s Little Camper Teaching Moments
This week, our Little Camper Room had a blast learning about fire safety! They sang fun songs and read exciting books about fire trucks.
We also had some pumpkin-themed fun with rhymes and creative art activities. The firehouse dramatic play center has been a big hit, sparking our little ones' imaginations as they pretend to be brave firefighters! The children enjoyed having Hannah’s mom and dad coming in and reading a birthday book to celebrate her 4th birthday. What a fantastic book as well that was donated to our preschool library!
Mrs. Eframo’s Happy Camper Pre-K Teaching Moments
Our Pre-K Happy Campers have been busy this week wrapping up their review of body parts and healthy foods as part of their CKLA lessons. In math, they've been exploring patterns and practicing their graphing skills.
The Halloween season has brought plenty of creative fun, with the kids making pumpkin art, mummies, and even shape Frankenstein’s! Our little artists are really getting into the spooky spirit!
