From the Office
Happy Wednesday Cherrydale Families!
As we find ourselves in our first full week of school, I want to take a moment to share with you important updates regarding parking and teacher availability to ensure a smooth experience for everyone.
Our parking facilities are extremely limited, and we have received feedback from our neighbors expressing concerns about blocked driveways and congestion. Our school offers valet service for all grade levels to help manage the situation more effectively. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this service to facilitate a smoother drop-off and pick-up process. Please see the map below that shows where you can access our valet service for your child’s grade level. Valet services begin at 9:00AM for arrival and we begin dismissing students at 3:30pm.
Our teachers are fully dedicated to instructional time from 9:05AM to 3:35PM. During this time, they are focused on teaching and cannot engage in discussions. Our teachers are available the half hour before school begins and the half hour after school ends if families would like to connect with them. I would encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher through ParentSquare or email if you would like to set up a time to connect. This will ensure that our teachers can provide their full attention to both their students and parent questions and concerns.
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding! We appreciate your support in helping us create a safe, organized, and productive environment for our students.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school office at (253) 983-2500.
Warm Regards,
Christine Firth, Principal
If your student has Cherrydale siblings, the older child will join the younger at their designated

Transitional Kindergarten
The District began offering Transitional Kindergarten (TK) at Anderson Island Elementary School this year. Based on enrollment capacity, we have decided to offer TK at Cherrydale Primary School and Chloe Clark Elementary School, beginning in November.
Transitional Kindergarten is an early learning program for children who do not have access to high-
quality early learning experiences prior to kindergarten. A screening process is used to determine
whether a child qualifies for the program. We have waitlists for both Cherrydale Primary and Chloe
Clark Elementary, with strong interest at both schools.
Students qualify through an application and screening process. This free program is available for
children who will turn 4 years old by August 31, 2024, and are not currently enrolled in an early learning program and demonstrate financial, academic, and/or social-emotional needs. Transitional Kindergarten will focus on essential academics, social-emotional skills, and learning habits to empower children as they launch into their academic journey.
Please visit our TK informational page, which includes an interest form to complete for families who are district residents and considering TK.

As of this year, all Cherrydale students will have the opportunity to have one breakfast and one lunch for free every day! If a student chooses a second entrée, it will be charged to student’s account. In mid-September, every family will be encouraged to complete a Free and Reduced Meal application, as this data is used to potentially keep this program going for next year!
