Read for Treats Program- Sponsored by DQ
Program Description:
The Cokato Elementary Read for Treats Program is a 7 month reading incentive program for children kindergarten through 4th grade. This program is designed to motivate children to read more, both at school and at home, by rewarding them for their reading accomplishments.
Grade Level Reading Goals:
At the beginning of each month students will receive a monthly calendar to record his/her progress. A parent initial or signature is needed each day a student completes the reading requirements. At the end of the month the calendar is returned to the classroom teacher. At this time any student reaching the monthly goal will receive their DQ coupon to be redeemed at the Cokato Dairy Queen.
Weather and Clothing Change
Just a reminder… the children go outside each day at recess, so dressing for the weather is vital! If it is raining hard, or if the wind chill factor is about 10 below, we do not allow anyone to go outside. The students would remain inside during recess.
During the cooler fall and winter weather, please be sure that your child has a warm coat, gloves or mittens, some type of head gear, boots, and snow pants when needed. Please note: if you are in need of getting the necessary winter gear for your children, please let us know and we will try to provide some assistance.
Attendance
When your child is absent, the school must receive a phone call, Campus Portal message or note notifying us of the absence. If the office does not receive notification of the absence by 9:00am, your child’s absence will be counted as unexcused and a phone call will be made to the parents to make sure the child is safe. Please take note of the attendance policy that is in the Cokato Elementary Parent/Student Handbook.
