Husky Howler 1/10/25 (Community)
We are the PACK!
Smiley Thoughts
PACK Guardians and Students,
Thank you all for your patience this week with the weather and adjustments. Despite a little wintery mix, we had a great week at Hubbard. A huge shoutout to the Tyler ISD transportation department who were on the roads at 4a.m. making sure conditions were okay for our families to drive on.
During their normal RLA/Math classes over the next two weeks, students will take their iReady middle of the year diagnostic assessments. Remember that this is our standardized assessment to monitor student growth. Just remind your Husky to do their best!
PTA - Next Wednesday is the PTA Teacher Treat Day. If you would like to contribute, please use this signup genius. Thank you for your generosity and making our PACK's day a little brighter!
UIL - Hubbard is ready to dominate this year at UIL and need your help! Students will start signing up next week for the various events offered. They will visit their grade level CANVAS course to sign up. We are excited for Hubbard to take home some medals!
Spinal Screenings - Nurse Olivares wanted me to share this letter explaining spinal screenings coming up in February. It is required for our 14 year male students and 12 year old female students. This will take place via the nurse during P.E./athletic periods.
-------------------------------------------------------------REPEATS--------------------------------------------------------------------
Leaving Early - If you are picking your child up early from school please do so by 3:15 p.m. We do not allow students to be checked out after 3:15 p.m. since this could hamper our dismissal procedures and ability to retrieve multiple students before the bell. The front office is closed between 3:15 and 3:45 p.m.

Fund Schools First
The Fund Schools First initiative has been organized by school districts—urban, suburban, and rural—to seek funding from the Texas Legislature to return districts to the same purchasing power as they had in 2019 when HB 3 was passed. With 90% of students attending public schools in Texas, our goal is for the Legislature to prioritize public school funding this upcoming session.

Hubbard Crossing Guards
Thank you to everyone who contributed to give heated jackets to our crossing guards as presents. Greg, Rayford, and Mark were all touched and wanted me to say thank you for thinking of them. They are a great group of guys who spend two hours each morning and evening serving our students, no matter the weather!
Advisory - New Year's Resolutions
This past week our students worked on goals and their New Year's Resolutions during advisory. I added a few that I enjoyed reading in our hallways.
Bible Club
Thank you to Hadley Kate Doran for leading our Bible Club message today! We had a great attendance despite the weather.
Rice Rangers - Band
This group of Huskies are former Rice Rangers that visited Rice today to play for their 5th graders. Mrs. Friday and Mr. Barrett are trying to build that interest in band from our elementary pipelines. They did a great job and are such a great group!

All 6th grade girls will be given a paper form and an explanation of the event. We had a fantastic turnout last year and hope to have even more this year!
