Memorial Mustangs
Your Weekly Update from Memorial Elementary School
Principal's Message
Happy Friday Memorial Families and Caregivers:
As I mentioned last week, there are a lot of Memorial Community events happening this month. Please be sure to look over the Mustang Memo that was sent out by our PTO. When talking with our children I can already hear all the excitement in the air about all upcoming events.
Parent Conferences are right around the corner and over the next few weeks teachers will be arranging for times to meet to discuss your child’s progress. Parent–teacher conferences are a great way to start talking to your child’s teachers. Conferences present a wonderful opportunity for teachers and parents to sit down together to discuss academic and social progress. They are a chance for you to ask questions, share relevant information, calibrate expectations, celebrate accomplishments, and set short- and long-term goals. In the past, I have encouraged parents to bring a short list of questions you intend to ask to use the limited time efficiently and to avoid forgetting what was on your mind prior to the meeting.
BUS INFORMATION
In addition, you will find an attachment with that was provided from the Transportation Department regarding Bus Expectation. I encourage our families that do utilize this service to please review them with our scholars. Over the next few weeks, we will be conducting a bus evacuation drill with ALL students to provide them with information on how to exit the bus in case of an emergency.
Our overall unit for our SEL curriculum continues to focus on Self-Awareness. Some of our classrooms have been participating in weekly Community Circle activities which provide our scholars with an opportunity to talk about emotions, personal strengths, challenges, and aspirations. In addition, these types of activities also provide our students with an inclusionary opportunity to connect and feel a sense of belonging.
Have a great weekend!
Respectfully,
Troy Holding
POINT OF PRIDE
School Nurses Do Great Work!
This week we would like to highlight the great work of our school nurse, Michelle LeBlanc. Not only does she provide a health and wellness service to our children each and every day, she also provides her coaching and mentoring skills to current nursing students. Through our partnership with local nursing programs, Michelle gets to spend time with Miss Adj each week to introduce her to the wonderful world of school nursing.
