Halloween & Harvest Celebrations

Half Day families are invited to join us for our outdoor Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 31, (weather permitting). The day’s schedule is as follows:

Halloween Parade Schedule

The Halloween Parade will begin at 9:15 a.m. Parents are invited to view the outdoor parade, which will take place on the grass field behind the school. (See parade map.) Parents, please do not arrive any earlier than 9:00 a.m. The parade will only occur with the weather's cooperation.

Parking for Parade

  • Parents, please be aware that parking will be EXTREMELY RESTRICTED at school, at the library, and at the nearby retail areas on Thursday, October 31.
  • To ensure that everyone can arrive for the parade with little difficulty, we are asking parents to take advantage of off-site parking with shuttle service. As a service to our families, ample parking is offered at 111 Barclay Blvd., Lincolnshire, slightly southwest of the school (location of the district offices).
    • The shuttle will run every 5-10 minutes beginning at 8:50 a.m. to transport families to Half Day School with return service to the parking lot on Barclay. Families will be picked up near the front of the office building.
  • Please also take note on the parking map, which specifically highlights the No Parking areas at the Vernon Area Public Library.

Halloween Costumes

  • Students should arrive at school in their costumes. Please send a change of clothes to school with your child if you would like your child to change after the Halloween festivities conclude.
  • All makeup and hairspray or hair coloring should be completed before school.
  • Any item that is, or could serve as a weapon, MUST be left at home.

Halloween Class Parties

The classroom Halloween party will begin after the parade ends. Only room parents will be involved to support the in-class party activities.

Harvest Celebration

In an effort to be inclusive for all of our students, we are excited to offer an alternate room for celebration for students who do not wish to participate in the Halloween themed activities. This Half Day Harvest Celebration will take place at the same time as the Halloween parade and parties. Please complete this Google alternate party form to indicate your interest in having your child attend school, but not participate in the Halloween themed parade and parties.

Snacks and Treats

Half Day School will not provide snacks or treats for students at its Halloween or Harvest parties.
