Foreign Language Update
The district is currently exploring ways it can expand and build upon foreign language offerings for all students. Maria Martin, Director of Language Acquisition and Equity, led the Board of Education through a review of the current structure and potential changes.
“The shift to a lottery system last spring at the middle school showed us there is interest from our parents to access greater language offerings. And we are seeing this same need from our English speaking elementary families. Together, this is what has triggered us to look beyond our current offerings,” Martin said.
Please click here for more information.
TAKE A MOMENT TO COMPLETE THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE SURVEY
To determine the best match for District 44 students, families are asked to complete this survey no later than October 15, 2022. Information from the survey will be analyzed by the district to determine parent interest and student need. From that, additional communication and information will be shared with staff and parents.
