PRIDE Under Construction - Week #27 🚧
Greetings, STEAM Family!
We are certainly excited about the completion of another eventful week at SDE, and as usual, PRIDE was on full display! Several of our 3rd & 4th grade students traveled to Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, GA to participate in the State Science Fair and did an outstanding job! Special SHOUTS OUT and CONGRATULATIONS to 4th grade student, Winter Batts, who ended the day with a 1st PLACE FINISH with her project, Brown Banana! Way to go, Winter!
Caleb Vaughan (4th), Terraniya McClain (4th), Payton Clements (4th), and Jaliyah Wright (4th) won 2nd place in a STEM Challenge against 50 other Georgia schools! They were tasked with designing a parachute that would take the longest amount of time to land. Zanylah Blash (4th), Winter Batts (4th), and Faith Hayward (4th) won 3rd place in the same parachute design challenge. Other 4th grade participants in the science fair include Taraji Rogers and Jaliyah Reid.
3rd graders who participated in the state science fair this year were Zykaiden King, Braylon Samuel, Jamicheyanna Turner, & Makayla O’Neal (not pictured below). SHOUTS OUT to Mrs. Windham, Ms. Crafton, and Ms. Vaughan for all your hard work with preparing our students for this year's district and state science fair competitions! SDE is super proud of our future engineers and scientists as they move full “STEAM” ahead with high achievement and success.
Other items of interest this week leading to the Annual St. Patrick’s “Super Saturday” to which we are looking forward include our Annual DCS Reading Motorcade in which various community readers will come read to our students during the day, as well as the Dublin-Laurens Leadership Annual Leprechaun Contest at the DHS Auditorium on this Tuesday beginning at 6:00 pm. We are so ready to cheer on SDE’s “leprechauns”, as we know they will definitely represent with PRIDE. Finally, we'll end this week with our Shamrockin' Shakes & Sop Hop Celebration for our students. Be sure to check out the flyer below; however, more information will be sent home this week!
As always, feel free to contact us anytime with questions or concerns, and thank you for your continued support of "THE" Susie Dasher Elementary School!
In the meantime, stay tuned for another week full of P.R.I.D.E.!

The LAST DAY to purchase t-shirts for this year's Field Day celebration is Thursday, March 16th at 12:00 pm. Payments are accepted in the form of cash or money order payable to SDE. As a reminder, purchasing a t-shirt does not guarantee participation in Field Day. Parents are encouraged to consult with your child's teacher prior to purchasing a t-shirt. All sales are final.
Please see the attachment below for more details concerning Field Day. We're looking forward to another spectacular event! Parents are invited to attend.
Stakeholder Spotlight!
In DCS, we believe early and ongoing engagement by family and community is critical to success. Therefore, the students and staff of SDE would like to thank the Fidelity Chapter #45 Order of the Eastern Stars for the generous donation of sanitation products and school supplies.
Community support matters, as it takes a VILLAGE!
This Week at SDE:
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Parents, please make sure your child maintains regular attendance and arrives to school in a timely manner. Students are tardy at 8:15 am. Five (5) tardies and/or early dismissals count as one (1) unexcused absence. Student attendance will be a part of criteria used to determine eligibility for school-wide celebrations. Remember, every minute really counts!
- Weekly grade level newsletters will be sent home each Monday, so please check your child's folder and/or book bag.
- The dress code will be enforced DAILY at SDE! Any "Dress Down" days will be communicated in advance. Repeated dress code violations will result in students becoming ineligible to participate in school-wide and/or classroom PRIDE celebrations and events! Please make sure your child adheres to the required dress code. Remember, the P in PRIDE stands for "Personal Responsibility".
- The PRIDE Afterschool Remediation/Enrichment Program takes place on Mondays - Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Snacks and transportation will be provided. For more information regarding the after school program waiting list, please contact the school at (478) 353-8250.
