Congratulations, Ms. Bisanti!
I’m excited to announce that Malena Bisanti has accepted a position as an Instructional Designer with Georgia Tech. While she is eager about this new role, her decision to leave River Eves is bittersweet, given the seven wonderful years she has spent with us. Malena has been an exceptional METI, and she will be greatly missed. Her last day will be September 6th, though she has promised to stay in touch.
I understand that the timing of this news is less than ideal, especially following recent staffing changes. However, please know that Malena's decision is driven by her desire for a new challenge and to further her professional growth.
We are actively searching for a highly qualified Media and Technology Instructor (METI) to fill her position. If you know of any potential candidates, please encourage them to reach out to Ms. Gowin or apply through the FCS website. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of classroom experience and/or experience working in a media environment or in an instructional technology, in addition to holding an SRT certificate (level 4 or higher) and a Media Specialist NS certificate or be eligible for S-5 Media Specialist certification. Additional certification in Instructional Technology is a plus.
We have arranged for experienced substitutes to support our needs until a highly qualified replacement is found.

Fifth Grade Showcase
Hello 5th Grade families! I can’t believe this is the final year of elementary school and then I will be seeing our Eagles fly the nest to their next adventure. I want to take the opportunity this year to showcase their athletic talents. Last year it brought so much joy to show the videos to the entire school and put a spotlight on our fifth graders. I would love to extend this opportunity to our fifth grade team and have you fill out the Google Forms in order to gather video clips and use them to create a showcase that would align to our units. Here are some upcoming units:
- Throwing and Catching (football, lacrosse, etc.)
- Volleyball
- Soccer
- Jump Rope
- Dance
- Tennis
- Basketball
- Baseball/Softball/Hockey (striking with implement)
- Gymnastics
Not a part of our units but would still love to showcase is swimming or any other sport that your child is doing that is not on the list. You are welcome to send me short video clips and pictures to my email as well carrilloam@fultonschools.org or CLICK HERE FOR FORM.
Thank you for letting me celebrate them and make their 5th grade year memorable!

September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Positive school attendance helps students to stay engaged in learning. Attending school regularly allows students to participate in discussions, hands-on projects, and collaborative activities that enrich their learning experiences. Each student’s active engagement in learning shapes their individual educational journey.
Positive school attendance is directly connected to increased student engagement.
1. Building a Supportive Community: Encouraging your child to attend school regularly becomes easier when they feel a sense of belonging within the school community.
2. Celebrating Achievements: Acknowledging your child's successes, both academically and personally, can significantly boost their motivation to attend school.
3. Engaging Learning Experiences: An engaging classroom environment plays a pivotal role in motivating students to attend school regularly. Support teachers in their efforts to create interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and discussions that spark your child's curiosity.
4. Involvement in Extracurricular Activities: Extracurricular activities offer students a chance to explore their interests beyond the classroom. Encourage your child to participate in clubs, sports, arts, or other activities that align with their passions. The excitement of these extracurriculars can motivate them to attend school consistently.
5. Recognizing Improvement: If your child has struggled with attendance in the past, celebrate their efforts to improve. Recognize their progress and emphasize the positive impact regular attendance can have on their academic journey.
Remember, your involvement as parents and guardians is an essential factor in creating a positive and engaging school environment. Together, we can foster an atmosphere where students are excited to come to school, engage in learning, and build a foundation for a successful future.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in ensuring the success of your child's education. For more information on FCS attendance policies please visit the FCS Attendance Matters Website or reach out to our school social worker, Kasey Vermilya, 404-791-2238 or vermilyak1@fultonschools.org
