Hexter Highlights
Disco Night
Thank you to our Leadership Class for putting on IA’s very first dance! We had a great turnout and it was a total hit among the students! This was a great project for the Leadership students who worked on it every step of the way from planning and budgeting to setting up all the decorations. It was a fantastic way to help build up our IA community.
Hex 3 Exhibition
We celebrated the end of Hex 3 with another amazing Exhibition. Students got to put all of their hard work on display for family and community members to see. The projects included workout plans from the PE and math class, assorted collision experiments and papers on conspiracy theories from the physics and English class, and the continuation of the bus makeover project in our CTE and fine arts class. You won’t want to miss our next Exhibition on March 6th!

Reba Crawford-Hayes
Ms. Crawford started teaching at Innovation Academy just this year! She has a degree in Creative Writing with an emphasis on poetry, and she loves to bring in alternative styles and sources whenever she can in her teaching.
In her free time, she loves to do film and photography with her collection of vintage cameras. Her main subjects are local bands, artists, and her friends!
Family Testimonials
We asked families at our Hex 3 Exhibition to tell us about their experience with IA so far. Here's what some of them had to say:
- “My student has never been interested in school. She is excited to talk about what is going on. She is highly interested and is more motivated about her future.”
- “You have changed my daughter’s outlook on school and life!”
- “The best thing is the openness and teaching practical life skills. Thank you!”
YouthTruth Survey
In the Medford School District, a culture of feedback (and really listening!) is one of our most valued strategies to improve outcomes for your student(s). If we don’t know how we’re doing, how can we improve?!
Stay tuned for a survey called YouthTruth. In February, we will be asking for about 20 minutes of your time to complete the online survey that will help us improve school for your student(s). We have asked YouthTruth – a nonprofit organization that supports hundreds of schools and districts across the county – to conduct an anonymous survey on our behalf.
Students will be given class time to complete the survey on February 1st and 2nd. We encourage families to complete the family survey at home between February 1st and 16th. For more information, visit https://youthtruthsurvey.org/ and keep an eye out for more emails from the school.
Spotlight on School Safety
Safety and Security is a shared value in the Medford School District. This month our school participated in an Earthquake Drill and a Fire Drill. Students practiced evacuating safely.

Principal's Message
Congratulations to all on an inspiring first semester!
As we start a new year and now a new semester, take time to reflect on how far your student has already come this year. Our students have already left their mark through three rounds of projects in both their core projects and Explore classes. As we curate student work, their learning is evident and our school is becoming more authentically theirs, better every hex with their learning displayed for all to see.
We are excited to hear your thoughts and feedback through the family survey included in the newsletter as well as the Youth Truth survey given this month. We value your input and feedback and use this information to better support your students and the next steps in their educational journey.
Thank you for partnering with us!
