PTHS Principal Selected
Sean Moss begins July 1st
Dear PT Schools Community,
We are excited to announce that effective July 1st, 2024, Sean Moss will be the Port Townsend High School Principal. After a robust community process, I am confident that we’ve found the right leader for the next chapter of Port Townsend High School. Principal Moss has years of experience as a K-12 Principal and most recently served as the Assistant Principal of Blue Heron Middle School.
There were many qualified candidates interested in the role, a testament to our district and high school’s strong reputation as a great place to work and learn. We had a robust hiring process that not only vetted the candidates but also strengthened our community. Students, families, staff and community members shared their hopes for a new principal and provided feedback on each candidate.
As superintendent, I considered many perspectives and consulted with multiple references to make a final decision. I want to thank the interview committee and all of the families, students, staff, and community members who met with the candidates and gave feedback. Some of the impressions shared about Principal Moss include:
Calm, kind, thoughtful.
Demonstrated culture change leader and analytical.
Engaged and wants to do what is best for the students.
Understands the need for staff accountability and the importance of having tough conversations.
Thank you in advance for welcoming Principal Moss . We will share opportunities to meet him this spring, summer, and fall. Over the next year, he will be oriented by the high school principal of 23 years, Carrie Ehrhardt. She will remain on the high school campus in the business office as the Executive Director of Human Resources. Her years of experience and relationships will be a great asset as Principal Moss integrates into the high school community.
Blue Heron Middle School is launching their search for an Assistant Principal to replace Mr. Moss. If you know someone who may be interested, please share the posting with them here. If you would like to join the interview team, contact Donna Benson at 360-680-5662 or dbenson@ptschools.org
Sincerely,
Linda Rosenbury, Superintendent
