Panorama Survey for Families
Please take a moment to complete our family survey. We use this feedback to support students and families and plan for the school year.
Kindergarten Round Up
Do you have a child that will be 5 on or before 9/1/24? If so, please fill out this form to let us know they are planning on attending Westminster Center School's kindergarten classroom. We are planning two family play nights in May, so it is important we have your contact information for future communication. More info to come!
Kindergarten
Kindergarten learned about tornadoes. Children had the opportunity to make their own tornados in bottles!
First Grade
This week first graders used objects in nature to further develop their understanding of addition and subtraction. Students went outside and made tally marks of birds they saw in the air, on the ground, and in trees. After, they totaled their tallies in each column and added the 3 numbers together. Students then took part of a tree stump and learned how to count rings to determine the tree's age. Using this knowledge the students used equations to figure out how much older the tree was than them.
Second Grade
Three-digit numbers are so much fun! Over the last few weeks, second graders have been building their place value knowledge to include three-digit numbers. We have played games, solved problems, and used different manipulatives to compose and decompose three-digit numbers. Now we are working on using our understanding of place value to add and subtract within 100 and 1,000! Ask your student about a favorite math game they have been playing at school!
Third Grade
Powering up the MakerSpace is one of the most exciting activities for everyone at Studio Y. It's a place where students can unleash their creativity and bring their ideas to life by planning and creating their own projects. Along the way, they explore new materials, overcome challenges, and learn new skills. Last week, the third-graders demonstrated their advanced Makerspace knowledge by taking on new, complex projects that showcased their creative abilities. Stay tuned for more adventures at Studio Y.
Fourth
Students are learning the different branches of our government. This learning will help them as they plan their field trip to the Vermont State House in May!
Fifth Grade
Fifth Graders are using games to review and recall math concepts before taking the math VTCAP next week. Math has so many vocabulary words. It was fun to make connection between prefixes learned in reading and math vocab!
At recess we have some builders making progress on a fort!
Sixth Grade
Sixth grade continues learning about ancient civilizations along with diving into Percy Jackson. This has quickly become a favorite of our students.
