BSES Summer Update

BSES Families-

Happy summer!

The 2024-2025 school year is right around the corner and before we officially welcome everyone back we wanted to communicate a few important reminders.

Most importantly, our Family Information Night will be held on Wednesday, August 21st from 4:00-6:00 PM. This is a great time for parents and students to check out their new classrooms, meet their teachers, and learn about the grade level and school information.

Our next family communication will be sent on Friday, August 9th.

As you know, good readers and writers read and write DAILY. Recent brain research shows us that practice is necessary in order to master strategies that are critical to the success of the reading and writing process. Reading aloud to our children also has tremendous educational benefits and can be a source of much enjoyment for students and parents. We strongly encourage parents to read aloud daily to and with their children.

This year, knowing families have been through so much, we wanted to make this as simplistic as possible. We want to provide your family with choice in how you choose to tackle reading this summer; all we ask is that you read, read, read.

We know that there is so much information shared at the beginning of the school year. Please access Garnet Valley's parent portal, which keeps all of our information in one place. Click here to access the parent portal. To get direct access to some of our services please click the following links.

Class assignments will be available through Alma, our student information system, on Tuesday, August 13th. The address is https://bses.getalma.com/home and it can be accessed through the Parent Portal on the GVSD website.

There are many factors that go into our placement process including information that we receive from you through our spring requests. Our placement team has worked diligently through the summer to find the best fit for each child and his/her learning needs. Each year is a new and valuable experience for your child and we have high expectations for the class in which he/she has been assigned.

It is important that families log into Alma and check that contact information is accurate and up-to-date.

Love is in the air at BSES! We had several staff members get married recently.

While there are many weeks of summer left, some families may want to get a jump start on purchasing school supplies. If you ordered supplies through the BSES HSA, orders will be arriving in mid-August.

BSES School Supply Lists 2024-2025

The Garnet Valley School District uses Infofinder for student transportation schedules. InfoFinder provides online access to assist in finding your child’s bus number, pick-up/drop-off locations, and times. Infofinder bus information will be turned on Thursday, August 15th at the end of the day. Any questions please email transportation @ transoffice@garnetvalley.org

For the 2024-2025 school year, Bethel Springs Elementary will be able to serve students a school breakfast at no charge.

This change is only applicable to the School Breakfast Program in the 2024-2025 school year and does not affect a student’s eligibility status for lunch (free, reduced, and paid, respectively)

Please update your child's SNAP Health Portal (directions below). This needs to be completed each year for your child's medical history as well as OTC medication administration permission. Also, all 3rd grade students will need a dental form sent to the school at your earliest convenience.
